Day 5 of flowering for the Obama and she has really started to stretch out Started to lst both my veg plants Skywalker Pre 98
Also just started a new side project first heirloom tomato seed just popped up last night. I figured I had some extra space in the back of my flower tent so I thought I'd throw one in and see what happens. No clue really what to expect. From what I've read seems like I take the same approach to this as I've been doing with my girls so why not? Going into a dwc bucket this afternoon as well as I'm adding another air pump to my flower room. Seems like flooding the buckets with extra O2 is the only for seeable way I have of fighting hot res temps for now. Also adding another 6in exhaust fan to help cool things off. I've gotten both tents to hold a pretty consistent temp of 80-81 dgs with both lights on. Veg tent cools off quite a lot when the light isn't on in the flower tent. Put a room fan in the door way of the veg room to help bring some more air in until I can get a 3rd 6inch to use as an intake fan on the flower tent and put the 4 inch back as the intake on the veg room My goal is to have day time temps in both rooms between 75-78 and if I can achieve that it should be safe to turn the light up from 400w to 600w or maybe full strength at 1000 which is my goal.
Added another 6in exhaust fan this afternoon. Planning on adding 1 more to finish the room off. Turned the light up to 600w and she's lovin it Temp is holding between 80-82 so I don't think even with another 6in I will have enough cool air to bring the light to 1000. But if I can't get to 78 with the light at 600 I will be very happy. Veg room Pre98 Skywalker
Just got home from work and decided to put my girl into a new training regiment. Gonna have a little test for lst vs no training and to kinda push the limit on what I can do with lst. Tried it first on my obama and all I did there was basically just slowly start pulling her over to give the lower branches some more light. 10 days later I had Then she outgrew my veg room, she got too wide This time around I started off the same way of just slowly pulling her main stem over for about 3-5 days. Then today I continued with different approach then last time when I basically just pulled her over for about 10 days then let her go naturally again. I also decided to take the 4 cfls out of the veg room it was just creating way to much heat. Come home and temps were close to 90 degrees. I'm currently deciding if I wanna continue using dwc or possibly set up a top feed system. And as soon as these ladies are ready to flower I am going to re design my veg room before starting anymore plants.
Almost instantly temps In both rooms down about 3-4 degree. Flower is back down to 76(lights off) and veg is right at 81. Right now I have another one of Inside the flowering room which emits a good amount heat and also sucks in warm air from the room so I'm gonna move it outside of the room when I get home from school later and the lights are back on. One last late night addition is a diy co2 generator Basically filled a 3.5 gallon bucket half way up with warm water, added a packet of baking yeast, sugar, and some apple juice. Put and aquarium heater in because i read on line the hotter the mixture the better it generates. Using the 3 airstone holes I made to slow release co2 put a lid on the bucket that was that Pic to come later
Lights just went on and WOW I wasn't expecting to much of a difference having added the diy co2 last night. But it's amazing I have never seen her look so green and perked up. It's kinda hard to see In the pictures but she is soo green. The bubba is taking the training pretty well
All my ladies are now at home in the flower room. With some modification to my set up Decided I was going to give up on dwc, res temps are a constant struggle and it bothered me so I decided to build my self a top feed system for the skywalker and bubba. Pretty simple but for a diy project I'm pretty damn happy with the out come. Tomorrow i will finish it off by adding the recirculating element. The obama is doing great in dwc I figured if ain't broke don't fix it. But since the other ones were going to be transferred I figured why not expierment with this for my next grow. Which I plan on doing all top feed
Thanks grim. It's been a really fun adventure so far. I'm so excited to start seeing nugs. The last two times I grew didn't make out of the veg. 1st time Hermied 2nd time had to be cut short due to a trip I had to go on. So I can't wait to see nug development start Lights go on at 4pm so I can continue working on my top feed system. Today's agenda Gotta add the recirculating element. Need to get one more submersible pump Elevate the buckets so the run off flows better. Also have to add some extra tubing to accommodate the height change. There is a leak at the end of my main water line. Have a ball valve there but there is still water coming thru. So we shall see what's causing that. Also I wanna hang my carbon scrubber on the inside of my tent. Clean up all the wiring And that should do it today unless the Obama needs anything which I won't know until the lights come on. I'm a little worried about over watering with the top feed system. Seemed fine last night watched my ladies for about 5 hours till the lights went off at 4 am and everything was all good. Had to swap out 2 drip nozzles which where bad. Other then that all good. Obama is on day 10 Bubba an walker are on day 2
Got what I could done before I go help my friends destroy their house since it's being torn down next week Raised them up to help with drainage. Still have some leaks on the main feed pipe. Gonna go to the hydro store tm and try and find some half in reducing tee to run the drip lines to the buckets Drainage / re circulating Idk how well it's actually working right now. I'm thinking it's going to have to feed into a bucket inside the tent and then be pumped back in the the main res but right now it is directly connected to the main res. not to sure if it's even doing any thing. But at least it's giving some drainage which is an improvement The main problem is the bottom of the bucket is a the same height as the lowest exhaust port as the bottoms of the bucket either way it's gonna Run like this for at least a day or so Plants are LOVING the top feed. The roots have never looked so good. So far this is what I think I'm gonna use for my next grow. Took down my veg tent to make room for the res. I think for my schedule of the next few months a perpetual grow is unrealistic. I will put it back up in January when things calm down a little. Fall is always very busy for me. Obama is doing great despite warm res temps she is growing great. Looks green as can be. But god damn she must have stretched an easy 2 feet. If this is any sign of the big nugs to come. She's gonna have a pretty good yield All in all everything is going pretty well right now. I'm just itching for one of these ladies to start budding.
Your Obama should in 2-4 days. Mine did in 21 but that's cause I snapped it and it got taped up and had to recover
FUCK so I guess last night when I was working on the system I accidentally hit the timer from timer to on and the lights stayed on for an extra 4.5 hours. I'm praying its early enough into flowering that I didn't mess things up too bad. Gonna go dark till 8pm tn hopfully keeping the dark period at 12 hours will save me
Lights are back on everything looks good. Added a little water to the Obama she's doin great Top feed ladies seem to have a little to much nitrogen Skywalker a got a little nute burn too because she wAs at a little weaker strength in dwc but so she got bumped up a little more then ideal but she'll be fine. Only thing is r/o water takes for ever and to get 27 gallons is gonna be a couple hours... So that won't be happening till like 2am Other than that all good round here seems like the lights on for an extra couple hours wasn't too bad. My fault for messy wiring but it's pretty cramped in there and I don't wanna mess round too much so just gonna be careful till I redeisgn in August

Couple pics of the obama. Pulled her out of the tent to do a res change and trim up her lower 1/3 she is giant now stretched out a good 2 feet. Probably another couple days till flowers come in. She's got pistils everywhere Also built my self a little exhaust box to hold my fans in my window.
