  1. Anyone into amateur encryption\decryption? I got bored at work yesterday and decided to mess around with creating an encryption (on paper not computer).

I'm kind of curious, is there any software I can use to test the level of security or soundness of my method?

  2. don't confuse encrytion with encoding. A code, is a system for obscuring meaning where one symbol is replaced with another. Encryption is a mathematical notion of transposition and substitution. One is very unlikely to produce any form of encryption that approaches any level of security without the appropriate training in mathematics.

Anyone can create a code, however they are limited to the codebook. One reason they were abandoned in modern warfare. You have to anticipate what you might need to say ahead of time. Encryption has no such weakness
