    Hey ppl.

In 2012 I decided to do everything I can to improve in bball, the sport I loved my whole life. Here are some ideas I came up with for practicing just by yourself. They only require a ball and a court or hoop.

    1. Shoot free throws first thing in the morning

It's easy enough (not too physically demanding) that you don't have to do a lot of preparation if you're only shooting free throws. If you work on free throws for 30 minutes every morning, you'll get a 90% FT% in like 1 week (or so). Just ignore everything else. And it's good light exercise if you're a morning person.

    2. Make 10 threes per day

If you can't hit a 3, try going to the bball court, and don't leave until you make 10. Do that everyday for a month and you'll be a knockdown 3pt shooter. Misses don't mean anything.

    3. Make a shot from every marker on the court

At one park near me, for example I counted 15 places marked in paint where you can shoot from. The 3pt line, the outer FT line circle from left and right, the FT line, the left and right elbows (at the edges of the FT line), the inner dashed circle of the FT line, and 8 marked points on the sides of the paint (left and right) on the block where you stand to rebound a FT shooter. That's 15 shots. I go glass for the 8 ones on the block and normal for the other 7.

Ok, I don't have that many different routines. Just add on with whatever drills you know, and post them here! 😀

  2. just go play against people who are better than you

  3. I played some bball the other day. Idk how it was close. 19-21 final score. We played 3-3 and the other kids were like 6'3 or more and athletes. Me and my friend r all under 6 feet and out of shape

Yeah ok. Well im too old to play with college aged guys on an everyday basis. Theyre too physical. I was playing with this guy who was guarding me and practically blocking me like an offensive lineman. I asked him to take his hands off me, and he said offball handchecking is allowed. When i got back on offense he pushed me literally off the court, i was lucky to keep my balance. Then i quit, he said he didnt seriously push me, but he is way stronger than me. I said i wont play if u think u can lean on me and shove me away from the basket. Because now my back is killing me too from taking all that force. I met him before, he said he plays college football. However i cant take playing with these guys in college who are too reckless and im not going to risk taking damage with that. So i left bc i was frustrated, and i didnt want to get mad, ppl fight at that court all the time and i think fighting at a bball court is way too dangerous. Idk what they r thinking tbh.

Basketball to me is all about skill, on the flipside i have way more endurance than when i was 19 or 20. Enough to play not just a few times a week but every single day, which i couldnt do a few years ago. I just want to advance in terms of skill and leave the physicality for contact sports or working out. Basketball is a mostly non-contact sport, i shouldnt be jockeying for position with my hands in basketball ever. Thats too dangerous for me on the court at least. Idk about other sports, but im not going up against someone with their hands all over me in bball.

Anyway i just posted this bc i got irked by the physical play and looking for a solution. I figured i will just play at the elementary school instead of at these colleges. I can play a few hours almost everyday now. Im 23 now, when i was 16 or 17 entering college i was tired after just 1 game lol.

  5. Shooting isn't everything though. Work on ball handling just running up and down the court using cones and try different moves to get around them.
