Cancer Anyone have experience with treating stage four brain-cancer (gliobastoma)?

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by princessbolette, Jun 2, 2015.

1. Hi everyone,

My grandmother has been suffering from stage four brain-cancer (gliobastoma) for some time now, she's been through it all, and the doctors have now doomed her terminal. My family has decided to give medicinal marijuana a shot, but since it is illegal in Denmark (where i live), it's almost impossible to gather correct and unequivocal information about especially dosing, and the mixing ratio of THC and CBD.

After tons of research, and visits to local dealers, I only feel even more confused, and so I turn to you in an American forum, hoping that there's people here who has had a conversation with an actual doctor, about this problem. Here's some questions, which I hope you guys can help me out with:

1. What is the best mixing ratio of THC and CBD, if you:
- Only want to treat cancer cells/stop them from spreading?
- Would like to avoid the psychoactive side-effects?
- Don't care about creating a better appetite or getting rid of nausea?

2. Is it true that you need to consume 1 gram (what I believe is 15.43 grains) of THC per day?

3. Anyone who has experience with stage four brain-cancer specifically, who can tell me how long the treatment lasted before the tumor was gone? Maybe share some "tips"?

Thanks a lot!

2. I cannot claim to treat brain cancer but there is something I can tell you.

GW Pharmaceuticals has an application patent for a cannabis extract specifically intended for treating gliomas/brain tumors.

If I remember correctly, the ratio of THC:CBD they were trying to patent was a wide range. Perhaps 1:1 up to 1:20 THC:CBD

I found the document because I was looking into application patents of biotech/pharma companies. In short, companies like GW use dirty tricks to patent whole plant cannabis extracts while promoting prohibition against the commoners via FDA and similar regulatory agencies.

What I am saying is that every grower/caregiver can make the same meds for pennies on the dollar. But I digress.

Try searching google for something along the lines of:
GW Pharmaceuticals glioma application patent

They back their application patent with research. Among other things if they are patenting it, it's because it works/is very promising.

Personally, given the seriousness of this, I would put "avoiding psychoactive effects" on a lower priority to treating cancer. People have specifically used THC (alongside CBD) such as a 4:1 THC:CBD ratio for treating cancer. I have not seen convincing evidence that CBD alone offers anywhere near the anti-cancer potential of whole plant cannabis, complete with 421+ cannabinoids, terpenes and so on.

I would not waste 5 seconds of time entertaining any thought towards the Cannaway, HempMeds, etc products that advertise "hemp-based CBD, legal in all 50 states!" You need real medicine here, not cheap hemp paste from China's industrial hemp program.

On a sidenote... you may want to watch Rick Simpson's movie, Run From the Cure, on YouTube. Great documentary about the healing potential. The sidenote is that Rick (and others) encourage people to use cannabis *with* THC because of the psychoactive effects.

In particular, restful sleep is one of the most important aspects to healing.

Also, you should care to remedy the nausea and appetite. Very important for the patient's recovery. And it's a reminder of why THC has it's place in anti-cancer cannabis therapies - it fights cancer while relieving nausea and lack of appetite.

Best of luck to you and yours.

3. Thank you for the reply, it was very helpful to gain some clarity on the subject, and get some relevant reading/watching material.

I think we'll take a chance on THC:CBD (4:1), since that is what most of the dealers I've met, who sell both THC and CBD, also recommend.

Kind regards

4. it is also recommended for indica as it will help facilitate sleep for healing. if you were to use sativa it would make her restless and energetic with energy. no to say that is not good but in the beginning a heavy indica dominant strain will start the healing. you could later after she is adjusted to the indica use along side of it a stronger sativa for daytime use for energy and being awake. munchies, oh boy will she be happy to get them and laughter too, one of the happy side effects of cannabis use. blessings to you and your loved ones at this time

5. Try to update u
It's helpful to update us here so other folks with similar situations can make an informed choice. With cannabis being illegal in so many places, we have to rely on each other's stories. It's a slow movement towards complete legalization and studies but at least it's moving forward. Until then, most doctors wont prescribe cannabis so everyone is on their own figuring out how to dose until it get rescheduled away from a schedule one drug. Frustrating as hell.
