Flowering Budding Plants ONLY Problems

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by greaterthings123, Jun 2, 2015.

  1.  I used to have problems in cloning... got better. I used to have problems in veg... got better.  My first big run I had no problems through flower, but now every time I switch to 12/12, I have problems in flower.  Curling of leaves and such.  Slow starts on buds.  etc...

So far I have recovered well in all grows, but I think GC need a thread devoted to 12/12 issues.  Post your issues here!  THERE ARE LOTS OF PICTURES OF PLANT PROBLEMS WITH YOUNG PLANTS, but people tend not to share their issues in bloom.

As a starter, Why am I getting such curling RIGHT when I switch to 12/12???????  I can veg for 3 weeks or 10 weeks with an AWESOME veg, but once I switch, I get curling. Sorry, my camera isn't working... will
update when I can, but for now... THIS IS THE FLOWERING PLANT PROBLEM THREAD.

PS, I have had these same issues using the full line of Soul Synthetics, and Heavy 16.  I am currently growing in 50/50 coco/perlite with the Head Formula... GenHydFlora 0-6-9 + 1g epsomsalts &  2ml Hygrozyme.  8tube 4 ft T5 veg 24/7 .... some 18/6 then 1k HPS 12/12.   Same issues with the 24/7 to 12/12 then with the 18/6 to 12/12.

  2. I know my friend has issues with light shock when moving his vegging clones from under t5 to his 5x 1000 watt room

  3. Seems to me like your problem is trying to get too "dialed in" keep it simple and just let the plant grow sometimes when you over do it and stress about making everything rite... Everything will just go all wrong ... I know some old farts that use the cheapest nutes and soil and grow under t5s but get superior bud quality with notable harvest amounts... Keep it simple ...

  4. Too dialed in??? Simple?  The Head Formula is about as simple as COCO growing can get.  The same nutrients and volumes for plants in all stages... from early veg to harvest.  Curling is a sign of salt build-up, especially in coco, but I am noticing it is always at the 12/12 switch no matter what age the plants are.

I am looking for people experienced in this area or ones who are having similar issues.  Why should I just let something bad happen to my plants an affect my harvest?  I'm not asking for a fix it all answer, or a master off all nutrient that fixes all problems, just trying to connect with people and get ideas... this is for all of GC.

Thanks, but no thanks.  GC helps people get good at growing... but the next time I want to learn nothing... I know who to connect with.[IMG] [IMG]

  5. A lot of people have issues right at the switch.  Light shock is something I am considering... when I vegged my 1st legit grow under MH, I didn't have this issue... I started under a 400mh, then went to 1k, then because I didn't have an hps bulb, the 1st 2 weeks of 12/12 were spent under MH.

I do notice that the issue isn't purely a light issue, because flushing my medium heavily seems to make those plants recover faster than those I continue feeding as normal or use a clearing solution w/out excessive runoff.

What thoughts does your friend have in this area, bud????

  6. If you are experiencing curling of leaves and what may be a delay in signs of flowering after switching to 12/12, the problem may be N toxicity.

From your reply to [member='CfLedDirtee'], it looks like you are using the same nutrient ratios throughout your grow. Nitrogen is important throughout the plant's life cycle, but more so during veg. Flushing you medium, as you described, would remove Nitrogen and is likely the reason you are seeing recovery afterward.

Sounds like you need to rethink your feeding schedule as you flip to 12/12.

  7. Says the one having problems lol

  8. I do not use any nutrients high in nitrogen.  No "grow" nutes whatsoever.  The Head Formula is a spin on the Lucas Formula but for coco.  The thought is how cannabis in general doesn't need much as much N as other plants.  Google it.  It makes growing perpetually very easy.  It is not the best formula, but I don't have the time to mix up to 6 different nutrient combos for plants in up to 6 different stages.

It is highly unlikely that I have specifically nitrogen build-up... but curling is a sign of more than JUST nitrogen build up to.  I do not doubt there is build-up, and that is why I flush.  It seems to help, but I am puzzled at how the issue happens right at the 12/12 flip.  It has also happened to me using complete lines of nutes such as Soul Synthetics and Heavy 16.

I get between 16 and 27 oz. per 1k light when I am not running perpetually.  I am looking to surpass 1 gram per watt (about 35 oz.) over the course of 2 months growing perpetually.  My life is very busy and that is why I am using the simple Head Formula in an attempt to accomplish my goals.  Using complete nute lines, I spend 10 to 20 hours a week growing.  Using this method, I spend 5 hrs a week.

Check out IronHeads journal if you would like to see what this formula can produce when dialed in...

  9. I hope I didn't come off as rude toward your advice... it is good stuff.... So far I've harvested 14 oz. within a 14 sq.footprint of my perpetual, even with these issues... so its not too bad... I just know it could be better.  My biggest limiting factor right now is the transition to veg.  So that's what I am trying to fix.

  10. I also grow in coco but never have this problem I use botanicare CNS 17 grow for veg CNS bloom for bloom and hydroplex for last two weeks never have any problems like this I'm thinking its the intensity of the light or a heat issue curling your leaves when you switch lamps but alsomwithout pics to diagnose its kinda hard to say there is a handful of things that could cause the symptoms your speaking of .... Side note fuck stupid formulas n shit ... The shit I use is 3-1-2 veg 2-2-3 bloom 0-10-6 bloom booster last two weeks 60 bucks for all three quarts at the hydro shop and this is all your plants will ever need or crave for

  11. Sounds like the heat and shock of the lights to me, especially seeing as it happens as soon as it gets those lights on them.

And they are 1k hps beasts

start them off with the lights way up and maybe up the extraction or a cool tube to limit heat issues?
