San Joaquin Valley Greenhouse 2015

Discussion in 'Greenhouses' started by JohnCriswell, May 29, 2015.

  1. Hello everybody. This is my second grow, the first being a few years ago. It was successful, but due to certain circumstances, I had been unable to grow again until this year. I am growing Purple OG Kush, which is a cross between Purple OG and OG Kush. I have 2 of them in 5 gallon buckets, and 8 in 20 gallon Smart Pots. I will be putting the 5 gallon plants outside at some point. The soil is Sta Green from Lowes. Next year I will look into getting a better quality soil, but so far there have been no issues with the pre-fertilized soil. Comments and/or suggestions through out the season will be welcome. I will start this thread with the oldest photos first, then post subsequent photos until I have you all up to spead. Enjoy the show.

These are a little blurry, but they are good for comparing size as the season progresses.

These are some Sativa clones I acquired last weekend. The breeder named it Gubble Bum. It is a cross between OG Haze and Purple Haze. I'm not a big fan of Sativas, but I was having a hard time getting clones for a decent price.

It looks a little shady right now, but trust me, it receives more sunlight than my Indica garden.

  6. As I said before, I was having a hard time getting my hands on some clones. So I took some cuttings from the Purple OG Kush plants a couple of weeks ago. They have been left uncovered for about 5 days now, and a few are poking roots out of the bottom. I'm not sure what I will do with them yet.

  7. Here are a couple of photos showing my method of LST. Those are barbecue skewers that I stuck into the sides of the Smart Pots, then tied down the plants with the twisty ties. The fabric is more durable than I thought, as I had to drill pilot holes before I could push them through. I have been using a combination of Super Cropping and LST. The only Topping I did was when I took the cuttings.

For the Purple OG Kush, I slowly decreased the supplemental light over time, and finally turned them off completely a few days ago. Hopefully they don't flower. The Gubble Bum was under we 24 hours of light, so I fully expect them to flower a bit before they revert back to veg.

On a side note, I went with a knockoff brand of Smart Pots and I was able to push the barbecue skewers through them without making pilot holes. We will see if they are any less durable than the name brand.

  12. Subd up bud. All those tops on those 20gal look awesome

  13. Update. Photos taken 6/7/2015.

The indica garden was getting too crowded, so I moved these two girls outside.

The Gubble Bums have grown a little bit since I transplanted them, but not enough to justify any new photos yet. Maybe next week.

  14. I also have a small crisis on my hands. I had a few branches split from the main trunk as I was tying them down. The attached photo shows the worst occurrence. It was the only instance that resulted in drooping leaves. I have been spraying it in an effort to keep it hydrated, but if there is no improvement soon, I will cut it off and start training the remaining branches to fill the void.

  15. You're pics are not loading but have you used duct tape to fix the branch?

  16.
Yeah, I used duct tape. I'm debating whether or not to cut off all of the big leaves, almost like you would when taking a clone/cutting. That is the same reason I am spraying it with water to keep it hydrated. The branch structure is more important to me in the long run, than the current foliage. I welcome anybody's opinion or expertise on the matter.

  17. I have broken a lot of branches I've never sprayed at the break I just tape it and support it with a bamboo stake. It has always worked after a while you can even removed the tape and you will see a giant bump at the break point

  18.
I have been spraying the drooping leaves more so than the break, in an effort to keep them alive until the branch heals enough to support them again. But in the end, I am willing to lose the leaves for the sake of the branch. The branch framework is much more important to me.

  19. I personally wouldn't cut any of the leafs off the branch needs those leafs for energy and photosynthesis
