Summer Amsterdam trip?

Discussion in 'Seasoned Marijuana Users' started by T-Buds, May 28, 2015.

  1. Hello all, may I first state that although I haven't posted a lot here(one post to my name) I'm very keen on becoming part of the community! The reason for the lack of posts being the fact that the house iv been living in did not have Internet, however I have recently moved! Anyway I had a couple of questions regarding coffeshops in Amsterdam and would be very greatfull to anyone who could answer them.

Basically me and a friend are booking flights from the uk to Amsterdam for the summer and are both very much looking forward to the trip! We are planning staying for four nights and are hoping to fit everything the wonderful city has to offer into that small time frame(please advise me if this is not long enough to get the proper feel of the city as can make arrangements to stay longer). One issue which has been brought to attention many a-time is the actual laws regarding cannabis, as the friend I will be travelling with will only be 17 at the time! We understand that he will be missing out as he cannot enter coffeeshops, although he understands that it could in turn lead to the closure of the establishments and so he understands why he cannot even attempt to be served. However as I am 19 I would be happy to purchase some and meet him afterwards(this is hypothetical, if I am advised against this I will take your advice into tough consideration), and so the real question is whether or not anyone would actively seek out and speak to him about him smoking it outside of the coffeeshops? As in would anyone ask for ID if he were seen smoking outside, in secluded places if required. My second question is on the hotels in Amsterdam, obviously I will be smoking regularly and was wondering what the hotel view was on weed? Would they let me smoke outside the outside or would I have to be far from the building? Also if anyone knows of any hotels/bars that are stoner friendly(smoking inside) please let me know!

Thanks a lot in advance and apologies for the abundance of writing.
    Regards, T-Buds

  2. Ditch the 17 year old. If you don't want to do that, you could probably still take him to a bar.

And, unless your hotel is in the RLD i would advise against consuming weed in or around your hotel. Despite lax attitudes, usage rates in in the Netherlands is pretty low and it won't be appreciated.

And dude,  why would you want to smoke in your hotel? There's not a better feeling in the summer than sitting outside a coffeeshop, puffing away on your joint and watching the boats pass you by on the canal. Amsterdam is such a great city. You shouldn't be in your hotel unless you're sleeping.

    Just food for thought.

  3. To be honest it was his idea to take the trip, and I would also be travelling alone if it not been for him!

That's exactly what I was thinking regarding the hotels the only problem I have is that I enjoy smoking a fair amount before bed, but I guess I can just go for a long walk or bike ride with a nice blunt:)

I was hoping someone would suggest smoking along the canals! Iv heard a lot about it and was actually planning on hiring a river boat as iv been told it's an amazing and peaceful experience, do you reckon the residents would approve of me smoking along the canals? I apologise for all the stupid questions it's just iv never been and would like to find out all I can before setting off on my journeys! Thanks for the fast reply man.

It was almost two years ago since I was there, but my advice would be this: Just do what you see other people/locals doing. If you see them smoking somewhere, it's probably okay for you to do it. I don't know which coffeeshop I went to, but they had a few tables right alongside the canal. There's probably several like this. There will be little mistaking where it is okay to do so.

    Good luck and have fun

  5. Sounds good a table outside of a coffeeshop would be ideal as would like to spend the time with my friend, but thanks a lot for the advice, I'm thoroughly looking forward to the trip and your input has given me a great insight into what to do, as well as what not to do! To be honest here in the UK iv sort of been conditioned to be paranoid about smoking etc however the way youv made me picture Amsterdam is quite the contrary! Thanks again for your input :)

Im Dutch and ive smoked joints in public since i was 15 and never had a problem, but i do live in a smaller town than Amsterdam.

Here its condoned to smoke weed in public, but if you are underage and the popo sees you, theyll take your weed. There are also certain areas with a "blow verbod" which means its not allowed. This isnt properly shown by any signs so i wouldnt say its perfectly safe to light up a joint right in the streets in central Amsterdam. I would advice to go to some park and smoke it there. If some police officer does comes up to you and asks watcha doing, just be honest and say that you thought that its okay and the most they will do is tell you to put it out.

And the answers to your questions:
No they verymostlikely wont ask for ID if you smoke outside a coffeeshop, but make sure it isnt obvious that you are buying weed for someone under age.

Its OK to smoke weed in hotels if you book a room where its allowed to smoke tobacco. Just open a window hehe. Also, if you are a bit paranoid just send the hotel you're going to a mail asking if its allowed
Smoking outside will be totally OK but if you do it at the entrance next or to a little kid or whatever someone may ask you to move a bit.
Smoking inside bars is forbidden everywhere in The Netherlands, so you wont be able to do so unless you are in some cafe that doesnt mind but those are almost nonexsistant because the fines for it are really big

If you have any questions about rules and regulations in The Netherlands you can also always shoot me a PM and ill try to reply ASAP

EDIT: as to smoking along the canals, i think thats the residents won't do anything but if you are at the outside tables of some restaurant and you start blazing, the owner or a waiter will mostlikely ask you to leave. Same goes for those canal tour boats, but if you buy/rent your own boat its OK (i think) as long as you are not the one behind the steering wheel

EDIT 2: I now see that this is a pretty long post. so TL;DR, It is OK to smoke aslong as you dont create nuisance to others.

  7. Blaze a joint with a whore in the red light district

  8. Thanks Mordevic, very informative reply!

So basically show basic manners and I should be alright? Obviously I will be respectful about where I light up and so I'm sure il be fine. Also since your Dutch, you can expect a couple PM's from me nearer the time as I reckon il get excited and want to know info on regulations etc(quite curious on the mushroom laws at the moment!).

    Thanks, T-Buds

  9. And also in reply to Mid man, as I will only be there for under a week I will want to take in everything I possibly can and so I can assure you that if I can, I certainly will!

  10. It's no problem dude, you're right. Just have some basic manners and no one will bother you. About the mushrooms, selling them has been outlawed but the seeds are still legal. Since growing won't be possible in a short time, I'd recommend to get truffles. They are almost the same but please be well informed about it. The reason shrooms got outlawed was because of tourists jumping out of windows etc. Make sure you have a tripsitter and that you are in a good environment (I'd recommend a quiet Park on a sunny day but finding one in Amsterdam could be hard.)

  11. If the seeds/spores are legal then could even try my hand at bringing them back home, would make for a fun experiment! I actually meant truffles, silly me, iv heard good things and would love to try them. No need to worry about the trip as I'm somewhat experienced with hallucinogenics, although my friend of course will probably be taking some too...so whatever happens, we will be in it together at least:) out of curiosity, do you live in a place in the Netherlands that tolerates weed? Can't even begin to imagine the feeling of going to a coffeeshop after work each night for a hard earned joint!

  12. You should watch out when taking it with you, since in Scotland (you live there right?) its the same as drug manufacturing (thats what google said, correct me if im wrong). And in the netherlands its legal everywhere, not only a few towns :d, and yeah that feeling is one of the best :)[IMG]

  13. I'm not too sure about the laws but regarding getting stuff into Scotland I think I'm pretty much sorted, already planning on sending a few grams of my favourite bud back and have perfected methods through practice, if I put a vial of spores in with the bud I'm certain they'll make it back to me once home :) oh that would be amazing, if ever the opportunity to move to the Netherlands arises...I shall be hoping on the first flight! Thanks for all your info too!:)

  14. Thats awesome dude, but remember that the growing kits are actual kits including the earth and nutrients n all that shit. If you are a bit inventive you could always try to replicate it at home, and judging by your previous post im certain you are smart enough to accomplish it haha. Have fun bro
