Grow Fridge Tips

  1. Yo dudes! First post on the forum [IMG]

Just wanted to share my grow fridge with everyone and see what tips you guys have for me. I haven't started anything with this yet, I've just got it built and so far it seems to be working well for me. The fridge sits at around 29-30C for as many hours as need be and I have been able to get the humidity to sit at 60-70% for as many hours as need be. I will be trying my first grow of Super Skunk in this one once I'm confident everything is going to good for the plants.

One problem I have so far is even though the temp gauge is reading 30 degrees it doesn't seem very hot in the fridge. Is this normal?

    Also:
How far should I be sitting popped seeds in soil away from the light?
What's the best hours to run the light? I heard 18/6 then 12/12?
Should I add some more CFL lights? Maybe some 20w ones?
Should I add a reflective shield to the light or reflective material to the walls?

    Materials used:

    1 x Bar Fridge
    1 x 130w CFL
    1 x Humidifier
    1 x CPU Fan (Intake)
    1 x CPU Fan (Exhaust)
    1 x Temp/Humidity Gauge

    ROCK AND ROLL! [IMG]

Hi Kenny, looking good so far! I really like fridge grows [IMG]

I would suggest to pop the seed with a 2-4 inch distance from the light. Those 130 watts can give a lot of heat, so be sure to have a proper ventilation and keep your soil wet.
Yes 18/6 and when you switch to flower 12/12 are the right lghtcycles.
Its always a good idea to add more CFLs, but you don't need them right now, but its recommended when your plant is bigger.
It looks like your fridge is already good with reflections. Maybe you can add a reflector for the CFL, but I think the walls are already very nice right now.

Is your temperature sensor analog or digital? I had some problems with the analog ones and found out the digital versions are way more accurate. So maybe this can explain your temperature readings.

Also be careful with skunk, my small skunk plant was giving extreme odor, so make a good carbon filter if you want to neutralize odor.

  3. Hey Weedle, thanks for the tips man [IMG]

It's an analog one so I might go grab a digital one just to make sure. And yeah I'm aware the skunk can cause a hell of an odor - is there any good threads around for DIY carbon filters for CPU fans?

  4.
Yes there are a lot of tutorials how to make a nice DIY carbon filter for pc fans.

I got a digital thermo/humidistat and its getting a bit more accurate readings than the analog one. I'm ordering some seeds through Dinafem today so will post up progress shots once they are in their new home!

  9. Hey dudes!

Seedling went into soil 2 days ago and this is the result of 2 days in the fridge at 18/6. Temp sits around 28-30 degrees and the humidity varies from 60-90% so I'm going to either put the humidifier on a timer and work out the best running times or get a new humidifier with built-in humidistat so it will kick in when the humidity drops and raises and keep it at a consistent rH.

In the 6hrs of darkness the fridge sits around 18 degrees and 60% humidity so I'm happy with the darkness hours

Have a look at the pictures of DAY 2.5 and tell me if you think the plant looks unhealthy - it looks really small to me (sorry for blurry pics)

Day 7. Any thoughts? Looks weird to me like its not growing in proportion or something. Could it have something to do with the way I have the light setup on an angle in the fridge?

Do they exist? Also your topic doesn't look really unactive to me.

    Edit: 666th post! [IMG][IMG]

  18. If your going the organic route, which I support. You should check out the insect repellent I use. "Diatomaceous Earth" 100% organic powder. Not needed as much on my micro grow I have set up in a locker. Mostly just outdoors, but in a pinch it wi stop an infestation of aphids or mites real damn quick.

  19. It's cool. No two plants are going to grow exactly alike. Like your leaves will look the same but you can't really control where/how the plants wants them. But even lighting could help
