Facebook messaging

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by banksykitty, May 26, 2015.

  1. Hi,
I just asked a friend via facebook message if she knew who I could buy from. I didn't say "weed" or anything just "buy." She told me that she prefered not discussing this via facebook message. I'm wondering whether I made a huge faux pas. Is she being silly for not talking via facebook messenger, or am I the silly one? I've smoked for years but always had the hook up until recently so I still don't know the ins and outs about getting some for myself. Thoughts?

  2. People have varying levels of paranoia. I don't think you've committed any faux pas. I've openly discussed weed on various forms of media for several years now and nothing's happened to me. But I can see why some people might be cautious of Facebook. It can draw unwanted attention, word spreads quickly. Just discuss it wherever the person wants to discuss it. No harm no foul.

  3. The police can read any and all facebook messages, they work together.

  4. You're fine. She's being paranoid. Laugh at her and tell her to get you nugs.

You're alright and nothing will happen. People post pictures of weed on Facebook and don't even get in trouble unless they're already knee deep in legal shit. I think Facebook can reveal messages if the police ask, so if you truly want to be discreet just get a texting app. But getting weed is easier through friends. It's the whole knowing someone who knows someone thing.

  6. I don't know.  Social media... I would not message about cannabis on Facebook.  I don't think you'll get in any trouble, but parents read this stuff all the time.  If she doesn't want to communicate like that please respect her wishes.

  7. I am Sure your messaging is being watched.  Be more careful in the future!

Seriously, police can check your facebook messages it's more if they bother to since it's used so much. I would message your mate through whatsapp instead, not sure how long it's going to stay private though since governments have taken them to court multiple times over it being private.

  10. unless it's serious weight the police won't give a fuck

  11. i agree no need to worry. when i started smoking i was pretty paranoid about this too but it's a waste of energy imo.

  12. pack a small bag to remain light on your feet and RUN!

  13. I could fap to that convorsation...

  14. *with a search warrant

Which they won't bother wasting their time getting unless you are already in trouble

  15. Personally I wouldn't worry about it but Facebook is an open source of info anymore after that last update and its just going to get worse with each additional update. Who knows what kind of info they're looking at. No matter how much it is, its way too much IMO. That's why I got rid of it

  16. Most people who smoke are fine discussing weed on Facebook etcetera, some aren't for whatever reason. You didn't know, she let you know she doesn't want to discuss it on Facebook, just don't. Some people are parano.

Any and all forms of online communications should be considered compromised. Including message boards and phone apps.

The only real form of communication I would trust is PGP encrypted messages.

  18. If you're buying, and she's selling, you don't have a choice or opinion on the matter.

If she says she doesn't want to talk about selling weed in a facebook message, then ... you should abide by that.

  19. It's not a form of communication but yeah, gpg encrypted text messages, mails or even fb messages are safe if you and the other person are cautious. You'll just need to exchange your public keys in person.
