Has anyone combined most or all training techniques on a plant? Planned on trying my next grow, just wanted to see if its ever been done before. Hypothetically wouldn't it be the best way to maximize yield?
I had a bay 11 plant that I used as a practice plant, I used LST, topping, FIM, and SCROG on. I trimmed the roots and. Transplanted. It was a super bush. After about 5 months of practice, I flowered it, and two weeks later it was a hermi. I think if I had moved to a larger pot it would have been fine, but it was in a 5 gallon pot for a while before flower. All my strawberry banana kush plants were female so I know it wasn't anything else. I'd advise SCROG to increase yields
Those are 2 completely different strains with different genetics. Some strains (or poorly bred genetics) have a higher propensity to hermie; not saying that's what happened, but there is a lot more at play then simply saying that since a few plants didn't hermie then it was definitely the pot size or the training that made the other plant hermie Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
I'm new. I have been training white widow horizontally using garden fabric staples. I've been fim'ing like crazy too.
I started with tipping my leaves (cutting tips off) when they were a month old. Then I lollipopped them, removing 1/2 of all lower leaves and branches, topped them, mainlined to get more multiple tops, then I monster cropped- bending the branches enough so they crease without snapping. I did this 2-4 times per branch depending on how long it was. Then I continued to just pinch the branches at the ends with my fingers. I'm also continuing to tip and now I'm slowly removing fan leaves up until harvest. I have had no discolored leaves either. Green all the way thru.
Do it all, whatever you feel is necessary. Most the time I super crop them and do a little lst to direct growth. I top them when i feel I need to which is often. What really makes the plant bush out is if you super crop them. If you go too hard and the stem snaps, just tape it back up and it will heal itself. Some strains have stems that aren't good for super cropping.
