Northern Lights Mars Hydro LED

So ive been tinkering away for the past few months, buying new gear for an up coming grow, messing around with some new genetics, and finally giving LED a try.

Im rocking some northern lights from Peak Seeds and ive gotta say, these genetics rock. These plants are so dense, short, stout and stocky little plants. A true contender for a SOG style grow. Which is my plan dow the road.

For now i want to get acquainted with the strain and mess around a bit and see how it preforms.

So the setup is a 3x3x5 tent, with a Mars Hydro 192x3 reflector series LED, 2 Northern lights ladies grown from seed, in Pro mix and 4 gallon pots. These plants were originally intended to be mother plants but the plan changed and i decided to flip em. They are a couple months old, been topped once and some clones taken off each. I gave them 24 hours of darkness and this is day 1 of 12/12.

I ended up with 2 ladies out of 5 beans i popped out of 10.

I popped the other 5 beans and have them vegging in my closet

What a beautiful sight! Feels like Christmas morning as a kid!

5 - 6inch air cooled shades
4 - 1000w digi ballasts
1 - 600w digi ballast
2 - 8inch 720cfm inline fans
2 - 6inch 400 cfm fans

In the pic theres only 4 shades, 3 digi 1000s and 1 6inch inline fan cause i let a buddy borrow a shade, a 1000w ballast and a 6inch fan. Im not setting this grow up untill end of October so my buddy asked if he could use a light for a few months. Brand new still in the box, i what a good friend I am! Lol not really cause i told him i want half of what he grows. He agreed so i said yes. Free smoke all around! No sense in it all sitting around till i get my shit together

1 -5'x5'x6.5' grow tent
1 -4'x8'x6.5 grow tent

And the 3x3x5 tent im flowering the northern lights ladies in as we speak under the 192x3 mars hydro reflector series LED

I should state that im a medical user and im licensed to grow 50 plants for medical reasons. At the moment im growing only 7 plants as this is giving me enough meds. But im going to experiment with juicing and edibles which will require more plants to make enough concentrate to last me for 3 months in between harvests. Edibles is by far my favorite way to medicate.

 

Day 6 of 12/12. They are looking good. I threw the other 5 in there, So they are now on day 2 of 12/12. I want to see how the genetics preform in a sog style grow as well as bigger plants that have been topped/trained and vegged out. This is a trial run for me to understand this strain on a smaller scale before im too invested. Im pretty impressed so far with this strain. A few of those 5 smaller plants will be male, hopefully not all. Im planning on collecting some pollen and segregating one of the smaller females for more beans. May try my hand at colloidal silver and make some fem seeds depending on what sex the wee ones show in the next week

 

One plant is showing deficiency or over fert. It got a good flush as soon as i noticed it. I think somehow it got burned. Everyone else is fine its just this one.

Day 11 of 12/12, which is actually 11/13 now. I added an extra hour of darkness to see how they would respond. read alot saying its great for speeding up longer flowering sativa strains.

 

Thanks man! I bought the Mars Hydro light for vegging in the 4x4 tent i posted above. I figured id try it out for flowering. So far im loving the heat or lack there of. It runs a few degrees above ambient room temps. The vegetative growth was great and so far for flowering its on par with an HID. In a matter of weeks I'll know how well it preforms. So far im inpressed and money well spent. Id definitely recommend Mars Hydro lights.

And no nets. Im just going to let em buck and I'll tie up buds if they need it

Day 12 of 12/12. The pistol growth is really kicking in, for about 2 days now. Id now call this day 2 or 3 of flower. They look great so far.

I noticed what looked like the start of a calcium deficiency on the big plant. I top dressed with a bit of dolomite lime and watered it in with 920 ppm and 6.5 ph yesterday. See if it clears up.

I believe 2 of the 4 smaller plants to be male and 1 to be female so far. The other one i cant tell what it is yet. Another day or 2 and they will all be showing.

The best looking female is getting colloidal silver, gunna turn that bitch into a boy and aquire my self some sexy lady pollen and make some feminized seeds with the smaller plants. Hoping 2 of the 4 smaller plants are female so i can do exactly that

 

Day 13 of 12/12. They look great. All 4 smaller plants showed sex today. I was very lucky, 2 boys and 2 broads. The males have been pulled, the best male selected and put under its own light so it can flower out and gimme some pollen. Not sure if im going with colloidal silver or male pollen yet. If i use colloidal i want to be sure i can make fem seeds all in the same crop.
