So, I am still waiting for my seeds to get here, Gorilla Seed Bank - Vision Seeds - Norther Lights Auto - Feminized but that gives me plenty of time to get my grow box and lighting set up. I started doing that today.

    [IMG][IMG]

I have an old aquarium on the bottom and mylar covered foam core on the top. It measures 24 X 24 X 50.
I plan to cover the aquarium in white poster bored or mylar. I have 2- 5 gallon buckets that I plan to use as pots. I have to drill the holes in the bottom yet. I have some river rock that I am going to line the bottom 2 inches of the pot with and then some organic soil and nutes.

As for my lighting, I haven't built the rig yet, but I am starting with 4- 33 watt 6400k CFL bulbs and 2- 34 watt 3000k CFL bulbs. I plan to get form more 3000k bulbs before they start flowering.

When my funds replenish I am going to be getting a fan and building my own carbon scrubber.

Does this set up sound ok so far? Do I need more light? Did I forget anything?

I may look into those for my next grow, thanks for the links! As for right now, I dumped almost $200 into everything I already have, and still need to get/build a carbon scrubber before my babies get too big. I am tapped out on my budget for the moment...But I just started a new job, so maybe in a few paychecks!

  7. So, one of my seeds sprouted a tap root after about 36 hours and I planted her. She's the one poking up in the picture to say hi!

The other seed cracked, but hasn't budged as far as growing. How long should I give her before determining if she's dead?

  8. So, my other seed still has not decided to grow yet. I'll give her a few more days, but I'm starting another one anyway.

This is day 2 for my first seed that sprouted yesterday. Man, they grow up fast!

  9. Are you planting them straight into dirt?? If so you'll have better success rate if you soak the seeds each in their own cup in a dark cupboard for 48-72 hours and then plant ... Theyll pop every time!!

  10.

5 posts up I have a picture of my seeds in a damp paper towel in a plastic bag lol. But thanks for the advice.

  11. O OK but I've tried the paper towel thing and soaking them works a lot better I've had 100% of my seeds sprout this way try it next time you'll be surprised

  12. I've read that automatic feminized cannabis plants don't require different colored bulbs to grow. Is this true? I'm planning on growing and wanted to know if you could spare some advice from your experience. Thanks alot mate !

  13. As the title of this thread suggests this is my first grow...so I don't have any experience lol.

But from what I have read they don't "need" different color lights, but switching to the red spectrum while they are in flower helps with bigger bud and tricome production. Search the forums and you will find a ton of info.

  14. Day 3

My first seedling is really stretching! I'm looking forward to seeing her develop some more leaves.

The second seed I planted on June 3rd still isn't showing any activity.

The third seed, which I planted June 6th , looks like she is starting to break the surface. But this might be wishful thinking. I should know by tomorrow.

  15. Day 4.

seedling 1 is starting to develop more leaves. They are so tiny and cute.

The 3rd seed I planted broke the surface. She is hardly out, so no pics yet.

The second seed I planted still had no action. I dug it out to look at it today. It looked the same as when I planted it. I slowly cracked her open, for science.

She was hollow. It made me sad. Guess that means she was just no good in the first place.

Vision seeds northern lights auto germ result so far:
    2 popped
    1 DOA
    2 unknown

  16. Day 5

The first seedling is doing great. I have named her Topf.

The second seedling also is looking strong. I named her lola.

I noticed an immediate difference between them already. Topf has a pink stem, and has since she sprouted. Lola has a pale green stem. Can't wait to see what else is going to develop.

  17. Picture update

    Day 6 looking good!

My youngest plant looks like she is sprouting 4 grow leaves instead of 2?

Like crafty said, they don't need different colors, but for Veg 6500K or "Daylight" color CFLs are best for Veg and 2700K or "Warm Light" color CFLs are best for Flowering.

When I grew under CFLs I vegged under seven 6500K bulbs and three 2700K Bulbs. And the exact opposite for flower.

Your next set of leaves I'll have 3 blades on each, and the set after that will have 5... Well usually. I can't really see what's happening on my phone. I'll jump on a computer later today and check it out.

Looking good man. Hope you don't mind if I sub up and follow along. You look like you've gotten the hang of everything really fast.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions my friend, I can't wait to watch you grow some dank buds!

Thanks a bunch! I am happy to have you following my grow, and I am sure I will have some questions come up in the future.

I did a ton of research before I decided to start growing. I like to garden and grow vegetables, I think a lot of that knowledge is coming into play here. I had plans to do an aquaponic vegetable garden this winter....but I think it might turn into an aquaponic herb garden instead [IMG]

I'll try to get a better picture of the weird looking leaves on my new sprout. It looks like she is starting with 2 blades on each side instead of 1.

Sorry that they are blurry, all I have is my phone for pics.

Instead of growing one blade on each side like my first plant did, it looks like it is growing 2 on each side.
