  1. Hello GrassCity!

So I just wanted to share how great I feel ever since I quit smoking cigarettes. I started when I was 18, and had made several serious attempts to quit. About 6 or 7. I never thought it would be such a nasty habit to kick, but I haven't had one in about a week and a half and I feel wonderful. Could really use some tips to help me keep on it tho, if anyone has any advice.

  2. Congrats! I despise tobacco so I love hearing when people quit

  3. Good. Enjoy the herb instead [IMG]
I always thought of smoking tobacco like drinking some really nasty tap water.
It'll quench your thirst, but at what cost. It's nasty, and will slowly make you sick.
So just smoke weed, if you need something to smoke.

  4. After a week it was pretty easy for me. If you already feel better you have the upper hand on the physical addiction side of the coin. Now you just have to ignore any cravings or thoughts of smoking. Just remind yourself you want to live.

  5. Quitting smoking cigs is probably the best thing you can do for your health. You'll feel better, have more stamina, food will taste better, you and your car, clothes, house, won't stink....

You'll also find that you won't have as many colds, and the ones you do get won't last as long or be as severe...

But be careful, it's easy to backslide and have just "one"......good luck!

  6. awesome, dude

I too quit that nasty habit

I'd only smoke weed if i could. i smoke about 10 cigs a day

  8. I find it hilarious when someone says something like this lol
You can only smoke weed, what's stopping you from putting down the cig. You. That's it. It's all you.

  9. i don't smoke shit sticks anymore either. it was hard to do. i had to hate those little bastards more then i liked them to finally get it done. i hated the way it made me smell, the way it made food taste, the price of them, the horrible health effects from them, the way i felt every morning when i woke up, etc, etc. i focused on those things. i also went online and looked up what happens to people who smoke, the more graphic the picture, the better. i used positive reinforcement by saying things like "i am soooo fucking glad i don't smoke those nasty fucking things anymore." and "i am so glad that i will never smoke shit sticks again, ever." stuff like that, that would enforce the fact that i have now and forever more stopped smoking.

i also had to pick up the habit of not smoking. i smoked ritually like so many of us do. one after a meal, one when i got up, one when i got in the car. the list goes on, but the fact remains, i needed to actually and actively not smoke. sounds crazy i know, but it worked for me. i also used the patch. it took the edge off. i used the lowest amount when i did it so i was getting the nicotine down in my system while not smoking. after a few weeks of using the patch i was good. no cravings or anything. i still to this very moment tell myself how happy i am that i don't smoke, how good that i feel that i don't smoke, how good i feel now that people don't feel about me how i now feel about smokers.

when i i say "how i feel about smokers now" i don't in any way mean it in the derogatory. i feel sorry for them because of how sick they must be. i feel embarrassed for them that they are actively doing something that is harming them, not just harming them but doing so in a most brutal manner. all of the times sitting out in the cold and rain, absolutely needing to have a smoke. fuck me i am sooooooo glad i don't smoke any more.

the reality of the situation is this, everyone who actively smokes will completely fuck their lives up after the age of 50. their families will have to deal with the emotional toil and sorrow that accompanies disease and sickness in those magnitudes. it will cost an extreme amount of resources like money and time to help the diseased person. time that could have been filled with happiness and love, will now be filled with sickness and death.

case in point: a good friend of mine named R has a father who smoked his whole life and had a stroke at 55 and a coronary bypass at 60. not to mention what his teeth look like...holy. fucking. shit. no. thank. you. more then that and infinitely sadder is that my friend R will end up just like him. they already have a few things in common like the huffing and puffing from minor exertion like moving faster then a walk. they have the same teeth, all nasty and shit. one of them i call "ol' yeller" because it is creaking and swaying in the breeze. every time he hacks up a good ol' smokers cough i ask him "hey man, hows your tumor?" i mentioned ol' yeller but he also has a mouthful of tombstone teeth. the front top and bottom teeth are going. like falling out. good luck getting ANY pussy with funk like that going down.

you are the man for stopping. think of the money you are saving. it is a large sum if you calculate it over a years time. something like 1900$ at 5$ a pack. crazy shit man...crazy, crazy shit.......

  10. Yea over a year since i stopped :)

Stick@ it mate.its all worth it

  11.
    Hey congratulations man!

I quit 3 months ago and not looking back :D been smoking since I was 16 (8 yrs)

E cig is what helped me quit, I recommend getting one if you ever feel like you're going to fall off the wagon

  12. Same for me it worked so well it was shocking. Cigs taste nasty after using one and they are much easier to quit.

Since OP was already 10 days nicotine-free I figured he didn't need an e cig.

    Congrats!
I quit accidently. I can't smoke at work and I work everyday all day. I slowly went from a half pack a day in Feb to 2 a day and then i ran out one day in April and just didn't buy anymore.

Can Marijuana Help You Quit Cigarettes? Study Says Yes     (news – 2013)

Cannabidiol reduces cigarette consumption in tobacco smokers: Preliminary findings.

This is one reason we need CBD in our cannabis, even if it doesn't get you high! The study used a CBD inhaler, but vaporizing a high CBD cannabis would have much the same effect. A tincture might also work but you have a slightly slower time to come on to it.

I quit smoking the Devil's Nectar myself so just know that you are not alone. Also, you've got everyone here at GC by your side man. A little piece of advice, find something to keep your mind off nicotine like running, music, etc. Chewing gum keeps you occupied until the gum loses taste.

  17. congrats man, I'm dry right now so these cigs are the only thing helping right now

Congrats and keep it going! Something that worked for me is hard candies like life saver mints, creme savers etc. I smoked a pack a day from when I was 14 until last summer at 28. I've had a few since then and I feel it each time in my lungs, no fun.

  19. Fuck yeah! Congratulations on another step to being healthier. I quit about 8 years ago and I love waking up without my sinuses being packed with dry snot.
