cast iron dabs?

    anyone tried it? I often super heat my cast iron after cooking breakfast to open the pours to cooking oil (set it to max heat on the burner for about 10 min. it will smoke for a bit then settle down.
     
    just wondering if any1 has dropped a dab on hot cast iron and hit the smoke with a bell/hot knife designed smoke catcher.
     
    i might try it tommorow. i figure it cant be to unsafe to do, any thoughts or comments?
