Join me as I adventure through my first grow - and stand me back up when I fall down.

So here it is. I just joined the site. I've been reading articles and following threads for about half a year, since my initial interest in growing spawned. Through a series of many logistic decisions I landed on doing a small, indoor grow with autoflowering plants. I am growing a hybrid, feminised, autoflowering strain called Candy Kush Express. My grow box is currently finished and I'm in operation, but I now desire to make improvements with the help of the more experienced. Feel free to berate me.

    Box -
I'm growing in the bottom 2/3rds of a Rubbermaid dual door storage cabinet that I can't find online anywhere, so you'll just have to go off the pictures. Inside I've put white foam board secured by Command strips and bordered by aluminum tape for additional structure and maximum reflectivity. If any of that is poor environment for the plants, let me know how I can fix it.

    Grow Medium -
I am using 3 parts Roots Organic soil, 2 parts vermiculite, and 1 part Miracle Grow in two 3 gallon pots with holes drilled in the bottom for drainage into plastic dishes.

    Lights -
Being my first grow and in such a small space, I decided to grow under CFLs because they were cheaper and when I get a better light I want it to be suitable in a larger growing environment. I have 6 total bulbs in there right now, but I think I may need more. I have 3 2700 K 150 W replacement that uses 40 W that throws 2600 lumens, and I have 3 6500 K 100 W replacement that uses 23 W and throws 1600 lumens. I can add more if anyone thinks I should.

    Air Circulation -
Currently I have 2 desk fans I found at Walmart that don't push a whole lot of air. I'm looking for better ones, perhaps in higher quantities. For ventilation however I have 2 120 mm case fans positioned on either side of the top of the grow box. I am looking to put carbon filters on the outside of the fans to filter out bad crud in the air coming in and scent going out. If you have fan recommendations (small and preferably not too expensive (<$15~20)) or any other recommendations regarding circulation or ventilation, please tell me.

The only other thing I can say is that I am very enthusiastic about growing and willing to put in the work to make everything run well. My goal from 2 (maybe 3, I have a runt I intend to re-sex and collect pollen from, but maybe I won't do that. Recommendations) is 100 dried grams. If that's unrealistic, call me a dreamer. I think that this community can get it done.

Moved content from this post up to OP

  3. Sup bro, you'll have to do major lst in there with 2 plants, also you wana make sure your able to get the lights real close,
I wouldn't bother with pollen from the runt as its a runt, you want a real stud when breading,
    Good luck

Why do we call it the third eye? When really it could be the first

  4. Also don't over water them like once a week at most till there 14-20days

  5. The reason it's a runt is because I broke it's tap root in the initial transfer to soil from germination. I think it will grow out. It either will be normal or die.

  7. Re consider adding any miracle grow to your mix. Unless its MG Organic then every single other type of MG has slow release nutrients in it and the more you water it the worse it gets and will burn your plants.. you wont be able to control whats in the soil

  8. I know it's a female. Fem seeds. I can re-sex it with colloidal silver.

  9. I wasn't aware of that. It doesn't sound like it would be too bad, though. The nutrients in the soil should only last 3 or 4 weeks, at which point the slow release peat moss should become active. I'll check the bag and keep an eye on it, though. Thanks!

  10. What im saying is you really dont want slow release anything.. Especially if your gonna be feeding them with nutes. They will end up fried and ugly.. It's much easier to control what you have in the soil if your the only one putting it in. I used fox farm ocean forest which is an organic potting soil.. the nutes that are in it are made all of natural things such as kelp, and earth worm castings, crab meal.. just stuff like that. they dont pack enough in for it to last long its perfect for a seedling. it lasts anywere from 3-4 weeks typically then after that the only nutes the plants are gonna get are what you feed it instead of still getting them from the slow release crap.. you will go to feed and when your feeding your releasing the nutes throughout the soil & the nutes your feeding and its like overkill and burns the leaves up.. its no good.

  11. Alright. I'll be careful. I intend to do like 1/4 strength nutes for weeks 2-3, 1/2 strength with molasses in week 4, 1/2 strength with silica in week 5, alternating up until harvest. I want to do a water curing so I won't do a flush week. I'll reduce if necessary.

For... Various reasons... I need to make my bud smell less and be more potent. Stealth, ya feel? Supposedly doing a water cure lets you feed right up until harvest for maximum frostiness and reduces the smell of it when smoked.

If i like it i may have to stagger 50/50 of my future harvests. Gotta have some sexy stanky buds around.

  15. I'm not trying to sell so I don't really care about bag appeal. Just quality of herb.

  16. Definitely start with a small amount, but I really liked my water cured stuff. IMO the smoke was smoother, but the smell and taste were considerably reduced. Also the buds get smaller when you water cure so your final weight will be less. The great part about it is a reduction in cure time, ready to smoke in about a week instead of a month

  17. Overall weight doesn't really matter unless you are selling it. You don't need to use as much bud.
Forgot to quote it. See above.

  18. im not trying to sell either this is all personal.. i just love the smell of good stanky buds!

Yeah im probably only gonna do around a 10 gram nug on this harvest just to test it out. Final weight is less but from what i hear each hit packs more of a punch than the regular air cured since all the thc is more packed in i guess you'd say. And i love how it reduces cure time. Can you feed up till harvest with harvest cure? If so i may just do my smallest plant and feed it all the way to the end.

  19. That's a good plan, to me it looked like the plant matter shriveled and the tric's stayed the same so it made them look much bigger. I haven't tried the feeding all the way up until harvest so I can't help you there. One word of advice is in the first 2 or 3 days of the water cure, change the water every few hours if you can and the end result will be much cleaner. The first time I tried water curing, I waited a bit too long and they ended up with a weird smell.
