A few days ago was my first attempt in several years. I didn't decarb. I never had in the past and its always worked. I ground in very fine. Added it it my melted butter/water mix in a double boiler. Steeped for over an hour, poured mix in tupperware with lid, and placed in the fridge. Used seperated butter in brownie mix.  Oh yeah! 7 grams good herb, 1 stick salted butter. Anyway, added to brownie mix and cooked at 350 for like a fucking hour cause it wouldnt solidify. They had NO effect on me or my homie.

I NOW know not to ever let the cannabutter reach 300F.

Next attempt, Everything was exactly the same excpet I steeped the herb a bit longer, and I cooked the brownies at 275F for a longer period. They had NO effect on me or my homie.

So, here we go again! This shit is getting expensive btw.
I'm now equipped with an infrared thermometer, cheesecloth, coconut oil, 00 gel caps and the "machine" to fill them.

Obviously going a completely different route this time.

This time I plan on decarbing. I almost feel silly doing so cause I'm convinced good butter can be made without doin so. I've done it before. Buuuuuuut, we'll see what happens this time.

My concearn is in this Crock Pot Little Dipper. It also had a cousin called the Lunch Crock, which I will be using. I called Rival and asked about their max temps and customer service say's they both hit 165. Doesn't seem very warm considering the THC's can reach over 200F, and the coconut oil's smoke point is 350F.

I guess I dont have a question so much as I'm just looking for some help from an experienced cannabis chef to get me on track.

    Help Homies!

  2. You'll get better results if you decarb and cook at 250. Lunch Crock probably doesn't get hot enough.

If I don't decarb I cook my herb in butter and water for 12 hours and it turns out great.  If I decarb I cook for a much shorter period of time.  I use a small crockpot- starting on high and turning down to low or warm once it gets hot.  I process the herb in a mini food processor (forum member's suggestion- works great), I don't like my herb ground up too fine.  If using fresh trim and popcorn buds I don't decarb, but cook in the crockpot for 12 hours.  If using dry herb I process it in the food processor, decarb 30 minutes at 220, then cook in my butter for a couple hours. strain cannabis out through cheesecloth, make into a puck, squeezing cheesecloth with herb in it in a potato ricer.  I keep the little used pucks of cannabis to throw in when I'm making a big batch.  I like one ounce herb to one cup of butter so I use 2 1/2 sticks to make up for loss.

Best of luck on your third try.  Keep us posted.
