Hey yall, So last night I was dry trimming my strawberry banana kush plants, and found a seed in them. They were in the same garage but a separate tent from a really nice bay 11 plant that went hermi on me a while back. When I saw that it had pollen sacks I chopped it down and put the whole plant in the freezer to mess with later. I'm guessing this was the plant that pollinated the kush. If I were to grow out the seed I found, what would you expect the outcome to be like? I've read quite a few posts about breeding. But honestly don't understand most of them. The biggest thing is I no longer have any bay 11 clones to back cross with I only have clones of the strawberry banana plants. The bay 11 was a great plant, it was my first photo period and I kept it for a long time before flowering it. I used it to practice clones, topping, LST, and anything that I wasn't sure how to do. Grow it out, if you like what becomes of it, keep it. If not just toss it. No harm no foul. It will most likely be feminized.

How do you go about that? From what I have read basically just spray with water because that destroys pollen? Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Doesn't instantly destroy pollen, rather it hinders it's ability to be airborn and does speed up the degradation process. In a garage it won't stay viable very long IME. It needs to be refrigerated/frozen for pollen stay viable for an extended amount of time once the male flowers open and dump. I'd be careful about the hermi in the freezer. If you froze it immediately that pollen is certainly viable. Or another hermi, but definitely not a male. If it's a male another plant somehow got you.
It may have hermied due to environmental stress or light leaks. OP, unless you have a small amount of space I would say try it out. But if you are only growing 1-2 plants I would stick with something you know is stable.
Thanks for the help, I think it went hermi because I kept it in veg for 5 months and never repotted it before flower in a 5 gallon pot the rest of the environmental considerations I think we're ok. I'm currently running a few tents. I use two that I built that are empty now. And one growlab tent that's empty now and a secret jardin l150 that has the small mother plant and clone area. I tried taking clones from the SBK plants while in flower (super cropping?) and have one clone from veg same strain. The plan is to move them to the other tents and SCROG them all. Usually I run autos in the growlab in my room, but want to take a break on them for photos. This is my first time trying super cropping, the clone from flower look like. Crap. There all just 3 leafs on them whereas the clone from veg is just like the seeds I had popped. So I'll probably clone that one some more. Plus I really want to see what happens when I grow out the seed I found. I have an abundance of seeds to grow out from my last three orders, so I might start some of them also. I usually spend a few days cleaning the tents after the grow and drying. We have about two more mason jars left to trim then I'll set up the SCROG. The hermi I put in the freezer to make oil from for the vaporizer or something not sure what to do with it, but hate wasting anything. I save all my trim for oil. If it's a large amount I dry it and cure it like bud, and small amounts I freeze. Or I do one large jar and mix all the different strains from one grow. I really want to say thanks for the help guys!
