Heart health and edibles

  1. Hello, new guy here.

I have used pot on and off for about 10 years. In high school mostly but went a long time without using any maybe 5 years.

Last night I was able to procure some edibles and ate a half. It was really wonderful, relaxing, some giggles, light munchies, and most importantly really deep sleep.

I think half the edible is a good dose for me. However right before I fell asleep about 2.5 hours after I ate it I began to feel an increased or perceived increased heart rate. I calmed myself down and fell asleep, slept great actually.

I've always been concerned with my heart health even though I am healthy and don't have health issues. I do suffer from occasional anxiety which causes my BP to go up a little but nothing dangerous.

I also live with a nurse. Who assures me I am fine and approves of my 420 leisurely use.

I have been reading a lot of articles though about negative effects of MJ on the heart/cardiovascular system. I write them off mostly because I know there are agenda against pot.

But I wanted some honest opinions from regular users. Do you know of anyone who has developed or had a cardiovascular complication from MJ use? Especially edibles?

    Thanks for your time.

TL:DR do you know of anyone that has ever had a cardio problem from pot? Heart attacks?

mj does raise your pulse... but not enough to cause a heart attack.. that would have to be some pretty strong shit. (or you would have to be in a serious medical condition to begin with).

btw, mj lowers blood pressure.. despite elevated heart rate.

however, when people are high and are especially on edibles, the perceived increased heart beat feels nothing short of a heart attack.
think of it this way.. if you went to the er, they would have a good laugh give you an iv with some liquids (some anti-anxiety pill or shot, if you are lucky) and send you home. (instead you could have a glass of water and go to sleep).

nobody has ever died from pot, and probably never will.

(even in the article it says that 130 bpm rest heart is dangerous... now if your heart is beating that fast only when you smoke then it's nothing to worry about, since you can actually live with that for a long time. as an example when running you can get up to 170 - 180, pretty easily).

  3. Thanks, I really only feel any racing heart issues if I go over my limit other than that I think it lowers my bp. It would be nice if we could as a collective run our own tests like bp before and after taking a dose and posting the results so we could have a semi scientific forum study on the topic or other measurable variables like pulse, body temp, etc.
