Home made seaweed extracts

  1. Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone has tried making their own seaweed extract. I live across the street from the beach in a very pristine area of Alaska with several types of seaweed growing on the rocks aty low tide, so I have been collecting them and making a "smoothie" in the blender, adding some water and molasses and letting it sit for a few days, then pouring off the liquid from the sediment. It seems to work really well but I'm wondering how much I can use without giving too much nitrogen to my flowering plants. The ppm of the extract undiluted is only around 650 and the Ph is 6.1-6.2.
        Thanks....

  2. The seaweed is a great tonic for the soil. What you are doing is is good. Just remember a little goes a long way. It is providing more micro nutrients more than anything, high in potassium and strangely ! Calcium

  3. I'm growing in coco, so no there's soil, but the micros can't hurt either way. This stuff really seems to perk up my plants that's for sure. If I didn't already have a million other things to do I'd put it in bottles and sell it. Maybe some day I will.
