Flowering plant hardly producing any bud

  1. Hello Grasscity,
I'm currently doing my first indoor soil grow using Sweet Seeds Automatic Cream Caramel, as with all my other grow projects it's on a pretty restricted budget. My set up consists of a 10L pot, 40/40/20 perlite/coco/soil and a 150W CFL with reflector hood. During veg I have been adding coconut water for nutrients and have moved onto a bloom fertilizer for flowering. The cupboard is next to an open window so I leave one side of the cupboard door open for venitlation. Apart from a very minute amount of nutrient burn it has been pretty smooth sailing, however, I am now 2 and a 1/2 weeks into flowering and the plant is hardly producing any flowers at all. There's plenty of vegetative growth still occurring but the lack of bud is starting to concern me as there's not much time left until it's done. I am in the Southern area of Australia at the moment so it's getting pretty cold (15-20 Celsius) and as I can't afford any temperature control I'm thinking it may have something to do with this, but I'll leave that to the forum experts to speculate. I've attached some photos of some of the bud sites and the plant. I'm really hoping to get a decent amount out of this plant so any help is immensely appreciated!

  2. You have a ways to go, my photo plants have more pistols after 2 weeks of 12/12. What is your light schedule? Autos should be under 18/6 or 20/4. And don't be concerned with the time frame they give you on autos, it will be done when the plant says its done and under cfls it will probably take a few extra weeks.

It looks like it's just started flowering. You have an unusual soil mix and feeding it coconut water? You are probably better off sticking to the more common tried and tested methods before you go experimenting on the unusual

almost half of your soil mix is coco so it might be worth using nutrients that are specifically designed for coco

Has growth stopped for this last couple of weeks or is it still growing at a normal rate?

Hey mate, how did you end up going with this one?
I am just about to start my first grow with 75% Coco Coir and 25% Perlite. I live in NSW and I would love to hear what you ended up doing with this and what you got from it. Did you end up switching to Nutes for Coco Coir or keeping with just the coco water?

  6. Read up in the organics section on coconut water. I just started using it, so I can't really give an opinion yet. I ordered some freeze dried coconut powder from build a soil. I haven't seen anyone using it with bottled nutes though. It would probably be a unnecessary if you have some good nutes.
