favorite car company

  1. Mines Toyota by far they are faster than Honda Nissan and Volkswagen and Lexus smokes just about everything too.

  2. Not just because I own an rx7 but mazda has always been my favorite because they stay true to their roots building cars for their enthusiats and cars other companies would never consider financially viable.
Except the ford era..ford can fuck off.

Lancia and Saab are two companies I have always had a soft spot for to Tho.

  3. Lancias are rare!

  4. Its a close second with Nissan so many sweet ricerss the Silvia, 200sx, pulsar, sentra se - r, maxima, 350z, Datsun z cars, 300zx and so on. But supras and corollas, celicas etc I've heard are faster I don't know about that when I think about it but both roast the cheeks off Hondas but Hondas are most reliable in my experience with Nissan in second again. For american I gotta go with ford since they got the escort, probe, mustang etc etc for euro I like vw golfs, rabbits, jettas, scirrocco, beetles are neat. For premium Lexus Lexus Lexus I like the 1990 es250s.

  5. Hmmm, that's tough because I admire certain companies for their contributions to the automotive industry and more importantly to the enthusiasts.

Toyota of course because at least in the 90s they really upped their game with cars like the celica gt turbo, mr2, and supra. Each car delivered something to the market that anyone could find appealing. The celica met the fwd crowd, the extremely underrated Mr2 (1991-93 here in the U.S.) turbo that was set up like a ferrari f355. That's right, mid engine layout for incredible turning performance, and at 2600lbs, the turbo model could 0-60 in 6.5 sec stock. Dubbed the "poor man's Ferrari." Then you have ever top of the line top end speed with the powerful straight6 in the supra that could put out ridiculous power with twin or single turbo. Too bad they don't have quite the offering anymore :-(

Mazda - simply for staying true to their philosophy and their ceo is a driver himself. He gets that urge, that passion for a great handling, well powered car. So thanks for the most successful and popular sports car ever (look it up), the miata. I've owned some. I get it. Cheapest real wheel driven car that handles like a cart. Very fun. Can't forgot the other honorable mentions, rx-7, rx-8 (remember the x-men version??), mazdaspeed 3/protege. . And for keeping with the rotary engine for as long as they could :) I'm saddened to also note that Mazda no longer offers a turbo engine in any U.S. car. :-(

Nissan- Ahhh, where to start... The 300zx is a bitch to work on. Anything needs replacing? Pull the motor. The twin turbo engine leaves almost no room around it for disassembly. So most people pull the engine. Pretty awesome styling and raw power but struggles to keep it to the road at a stand still. You can definitely feel all 3500 lbs of this car when you steer it around. The precursors and successors should also be noted. The 350z, 370z, and can't forget the exotic eating gt-r. :) smokes the pants off almost any exotic car on the tracks or on the road. The suspension and stability control are beyond amazing and the level of engineering and precision that went into the car is staggering; on level with McClaren type development imo. Little modification can make them monsters. And at a fraction of the cost of the competition it's great value.

I could seriously go on for almost any manufacturer but to shorten this I still like lotus, mclaren, Ferrari, Hennessey outside Houston, lambo, bmw, Mercedes, and subaru.

  6. Rx7s are the shit arguably the best jap supercar ever made.

I wouldn't say that. They don't even make for the best drift cars. They were only competitive when racing regulations only determined a cars ranking based on liters per engine. Since the rx7 is like 1.3 but puts out power like a 2.6, it clearly is going to trounce anything liter to liter. Since its stomping all the competition,  rules were changed and for rotary engines, you double the displacement and that's where it competes. So now it's placed along with BMW m3s and the like. And I don't think it had the reliability racers needed on track, sadly.

It's a sports car, and I understand the love for the car. But the best? Certainly not.

Rotarys are generally reliable more on the track with a good tune at high rpm.

Sitting in traffic..turning engine on and off ..not driving it for while so coolant seals leak...daily driving and owners who treat it like a piston engine is where they are unreliable...not sure where you heard that besides from "those" people that don't know anything about rotarys but will tell you "apex seals" this and that..

But yeah generally you double the displacement for racing for the reasons you said

  9. Definitely Nissan and Toyota.

I always grew up liking Toyota because my best friend's dad worked at a Toyota dealership so we always got to walk the lot and look at all the cool cars coming in and getting worked on.  The dealership was good at doing fun projects too like a TRD performance Supra and a TRD performance MR2 that were legit cars back then, but no where near what people pump out of 2jz's now...

Toyota really did have the performance aspect pretty much figured out in the 90's and it's a real shame they kind of dropped off the map with it in the change of the century.  They really could have kept something good going if they just stayed true to what they were doing, but alas the economy took a turn for the worst and efficiency was the new game changer so all the fun started to fade away.

Nissan however, I began to grow a liking too because they pretty much always kept a sports car in their lineup even when everyone else started to drop out of the race (as far as cheap/import sports cars go at least). I can now say I am a smidge more of a fan of Nissan than Toyota, but still love them both for what they are now and what they were in the past (which is why I am putting a 1jz in my 240sx). Nissan has produced a great heritage with the Z, and I have faith that they will bring back the sx line to compete with the fr-s... I hope at least. The GT-R is always a car I have respected and am excited to see where they go with it in the future.

I love american products and will support them whenever I can, but cars I was just never a huge fan of to be honest.  I always grew up liking the import scene, but that's not to say all american cars are terrible and I think they have finally begun to turn around a good leaf and produce some reliable vehicles, but I still do believe they are a bit behind some of the competition in this regard.

Pretty broad question but I'd have to go with Chevrolet. Their trucks are impressive, mainly their diesels. After years as a repo-man I greatly prefer Duramaxs to Cummins or Powerstrokes. The Corvette is probably one of the best bang/buck sports cars on the planet. Although their sedans aren't anything special, we actually own a Toyota Avalon for those needs.

  20. I can't just pick one...
If I had to, it'd be toyota. Love their tacomas!
My favorite car I've owned was a 2002 maxima. That vq35 is about the most perfect engine I've driven. Never do you feel underpowered, and you barely feather the gas to be doing 80 on the highway. I never even heard my engine, it's so quiet.
I have driven my mom's '15 stingray a bunch of times, it sounds amazing when you throttle it. Why she bought it i dunno, it's cumbersome to drive daily, it feels like it's going to stall when idling at the red lights. You can tell it wants to SCREAM!
