Dutch passion LED DWC Time to Think Different

  1. Finally! Oh how I missed you guys.
This is the beginning of my second grow, and the improvements are as follows..
No more aerogarden, I currently have a gsc sprout in there but I don't know what to do with it, I will update on that here when I figure it out. For this grow, I'm using a 5 gallon DWC bucket, which should tremendously improve yield, considering the last plant I had to cut out of the Aerogarden lid with shears due to the main stem getting fatter than I expected. Now those problems are gone! Also have a 4" disc bubbler at the bottom, ready to oxygenate!

Strain- Dutch passion think different, a classic, going for all out yield this time. I was pleasantly surprised with scoring 2.5 oz in 63 days my last grow but I'm looking to destroy those numbers this time around, and I do believe Dutch passion has the genetics capable. Been waiting on the seeds for weeks, they're finally out for delivery today, so fingers crossed gorilla came through!

Light- same kind l300 LED as last grow, that beautiful pink glow produced some killer tops last time around, however I attribute my novice impatience with causing my last buds to be rather fluffy, light and premature. This time round I'm letting her reach FULL potential.

Nutes- Dutch pro autoflower grow and bloom- excited to see the difference in growth between this grow nutrient and the aerogarden plant food I was using for grow nutes last season lol, hopefully quite a dramatic shift.

This will all be going in the same closet setup I had last grow, screen door in place for max ventilation and protection. Any pointers or suggestions are welcome. Starting with only this one plant, because I'm not sure if space will allow for a second plant down the road, but I have a three pack of seeds so all that's needed is another bucket if I'm feeling ballsy later.

Does anybody have any experience with this strain? I don't think I'll be pulling a half pound or anything, but from what I hear they're very resilient and will take just about anything you can throw at it. Also looking forward to the smoke, high sativa dominance in an ak-47 style plant, just sounds mind blowing! I've heard of people scrogging an autoflower as well and would like to try that but not sure how effective a scrog setup is with autoflowers, since there's almost no veg time to fill out the screen. Anyone tried this before with an auto?

I'll post pics tonight when everything is set up, plan on soaking the seed overnight in a cup then paper towel method until taproot shows, then into the ph balanced rockwool cube for a few days until roots are solid enough to throw in the bucket and cover with pebbles.
    Sound like a good plan?

  2. Sounds good! Subbed.

  3. I'll be following bro, let's go! [IMG]

Ok, so a few things have been changed. Mainly, this is not the think different seed, this is the Girl Scout cookies. The think different did sprout, but the fucking cat ate it. Luckily I do have two more backup that I'll likely start later in another bucket if I can make room. This baby has been resilient as hell, as she's been chewed at, taken out of the water for to sit in dryness for hours, hadn't been feed, but she's still kicking!
I'm gonna call this day one since the sprouting phase was slightly stunted, but the growth shall commence now!
Very excited though, never done a photoperiod, hopefully she's female! If so then I'll probably either scrog this baby or clone the hell out of her. Either way I'll post here. Sorry for the long wait, after the TD died I was bummed as hell for a while, but I'm back with a vengeance! cookies cookies cookies!!!

  7. Can't wait for updates. Subbed.

Give my cfl dwc in my sig a look see, can't get any traffic on mine XD

Sorry to hear about your think different seed, I too have lost many a seedling to my cat.

Great things are happening here! My first root decided to make its way down to poke out of the cup, can't wait for it to hit the water. ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1432482102.731592.jpg

I'd like to clone if female, have another seed if not. thinking the aerogarden might make a great cloner. Used one of the aerogarden root sponges in place of a rock wool cube with this seed since it was started in aero, and it turned out just fine transplanting to dwc. We'll see how things progress in the coming weeks. Very excited!

Everything is going fine, roots have taken hold and sprout is starting to get some size! Honestly, I'm not even worried if these cookies turn out to be male, because one, I have two more autofem TD seeds and another GSC in waiting, and two, considering this is my first bucket, I'm needing as much practice as I can get, though I seem to be adjusting just fine so I'm happy as can be. Plus now I'm getting many ideas with what to do after sexing. Cloning first for more awesomeness in the future, scrogging the current bucket after a good month veg for a massive crop, maybe even move some clones outdoor, possibilities are endless[IMG]

  10. Soooo... The first seed order I ever placed just got here. This order was placed in December! I had completely forgotten about it but holy shit I'm excited. I now have a dinafem feminized white widow, feminized incredible bulk, and two regular afghan autos, on top of the two TD autos and the cookies I have going now. Stocked! Wish I could expand my garden but they'll just have to wait for now.

Yellowing is spreading a bit. Ph is hovering in the 5.5-6 range and hasn't fluctuated, and I've upped nute strength a little because I suspected Nitrogen deficiency but could be way off on that. Also the Dutch pro nutes I'm using are specialized for autos, but do y'all think this would cause any substantial issues with a photo?

I'm kinda thinking I should I just start over with another TD, which I know will be female and works with my nutes, or should I ride out this gsc until it shows sex? I was also considering, if this baby is a boy, letting it grow since its on its own anyway until I can save some of the pollen for future breeding projects if I ever fancy, considering the rarity of cookie genetics in my area it seemed like an ok idea. Possibly make some nice hybrids with incredible bulk or white widow. But is that more trouble than it's worth considering this would be only be my second full grow and harvest and I'm just wanting bud right now?

  12. I usually run my nutes about 1/4 strength when they're that little. I don't know much about Dutch Pro but I don't see how it could be too mich difference from anything else if the npk and micros ratios are similar. The yellowing is looking like something nitrogen related, but usually if you have one problem you usually have more problems that you can't see.

I'd dump the res and add 1/4 strength nutes. Adjust pH to 5.7-5.9. I always run my res at 5.8 and never have pH issues. Put your light at about 24". The leaves are showing heat stress. And what's the temp in there?

  13. How do you like the kind led? Any heat issues? I'm waiting on the 450 for my grow, hopefully in a few weeks. Look forward to seeing your process unfold

  14. Thanks so much for the advice, yeah npk is basically the same and 5.8 is the golden zone. Definitely will dump out and refill bucket. Temp stays between 77-81F, raised fan power to full speed to bring it down some. Light has been at 24" above plant level since the beginning, I have noticed my light to be a little intense for sprouts, this model has no 50/50 or veg/bloom switches so it's 100% intensity all the time, had the same issue last grow.

What can I say about the Kind LED... First of all, yes, heat was and definitely still is an issue with the light. Part of my attraction to LED's in the beginning was their lower temps than HID's. May be less but it's still more than intense enough to still require ventilation. My first time leaving it on in the closet with no fans or venting made temps shoot to 100+ degrees F in a few hours! Now I just leave the door open with fan running 24/7.

Aside from the heat though, I was very impressed. It can produce some seriously dank bud! In my first grow with it, I pulled early and still got 2.5 oz in 63 days. I anticipate much better results than that in future grows. The plants absolutely loved it, but this was my first light so I don't have much to compare it to. I'd recommend it but as much as LED technology is advancing, I'm sure there's 100 better and MUCH cheaper options now. Still, I don't regret it one bit, it's a damn good light.

  15. Try to keep your temp around 72ish. I think that and new res change should change things a little bit. I look forward to seeing the improvments

  16. Bucket has been dumped refilled and chilled, I'll give an update as soon as any signs of improvement come along.

    Getting bigger

  18. Looking better! I guess the res change and 5.8 pH helped?
