Any Astronomer Blades?

  1. So, I'm back after a while from a short break away from the forums, and while I was away I got interested in a new hobby: Astronomy!

I've managed to scratch a few pennies together to get a decent 3.5" Refractor, and it'll be here this weekend. I'm super excited for it to arrive, It's going to be a great weekend! (if it doesn't get cloudy :/ )
I'm planning on getting into Astrophotography next summer (when I can afford a goto mount and 8" reflector), So I'll post some pictures here for those that are interested.

    Any other astronomers here?

P.S. On the weed side of things, I've finally tried legitmate Pineapple Express. Good Damn! I only had a small hit a few hours ago, just one hit, and I'm still feeling amazing. It really does have a pineapple taste, I kid you not! Almost a lemony aftertaste. You bet I'll be toking some PE when I stargaze.

  2. I am a complete amateur but I love the stars, going to be investing in a decent telescope soon.  For now I just use my naked eye and the Star tracker app.  One more week until a few planets line up, going to be a nice and stoney evening.

  3. yea man i love anythinng to do with Space.

  4. I love stargazing. I've lived mainly away from populated areas, which helps with sky watching.

(My last place had a skylight over the bed. It was awesome.)

  5. I remember January last year i was up north and i went outside at night to look at the stars and it was amazing.

  6. My older brother dropped a steel pipe on my head when i was 6 and i saw stars and got a concussion.

    That prolly doesn't count.

The only place I've yet able to see the stars in their glory down here in florida is in the Everglades, been wanting to go just to smoke and watch the stars but I have no car and it's at least 15 minutes driving.

  8. Wow im really happy for you man, congrats on getting the telescope. Ive always wanted to get into stargazing but where i live theres too much light pollution. Enjoy it man, and post some pictures!

  9. Lifelong serious amateur astronomer here in North-Central OR, complete geek/nerd, love space and science, with a couple of large telescopes. I love in a tiny isolated rural community in north-central Oregon where we only have five street lamps and none of them are anywhere near my house. The nearest city lights of any consequence are in the next town 36 miles away over the hills. Whenever the weather is clear, I can step outside my front door and be treated to the most beautiful night sky (this location is somewhere between 1 and 1.5 on the Bortle scale of darkness and is in one of the darkest areas on the West Coast. Ours is one of the driest climates in the state with just about 13" precipitation a year and often lots of sunshine even during winter (though this year a lot of wet, unusually warmer weather, gray clouds/overcast stuff as opposed to 10s-20s, snow and sunshine all day).

Also, I'm a long standing member (12 years) of Cloudy Nights, the largest and best astronomy community on the web with forums that are well-moderated, rich and diverse in content like GC (except we don't allow discussion of politics or religion in politics). Awesome resource for everyone from beginner to pro and everything in between. I invite you to check it out. I am very picky about the kinds of online communities I'm involved with. GC and CN are the best, IMHO.
