420W SOG/DWC Green Crack Organic

  1. Hey everyone! Back with my second attempt at DWC, along with a more rigorous and clean setup
(my first attempt was stomped out by one of my cats getting to my little gal and eating her)
I was also having Res temp problems so i learned from another newcomer here in the DWC section to use a Cooler instead of a bucket(s).

Got 2 separate Air pumps going into it so i get a nice bubbly surface with no smooth water.

My temps stay under 70 with 1 2ltr every 3 days so i dont have to babysit it
Made a nice little holding strap so the bottle does not move around as to damage my delicate plants roots.

So anyone that feels like subbing up for the ride feel free [IMG] im here to have some fun and grow some sticky icky nugs [IMG]

And this is the sexy little lady that is going to put on a show!
Shes 4 days old and should be ready to put down into the hydroton in the next 2 days

  2. Subbed up! the cooler is amazing. save u a lot of stress
How did you make the strap? I'm still working on keeping my bottle away from the roots.

  3. That strap in there is honestly just the piece that came with my cooler. The plastic strip that is attached to the lid and the inside so you dont fling the lid off ya know? So i took and drilled some holes inside after draining it and added that strap inside tight enough and at the right angle so it can hold 1 . 2ltr safely away from my roots. I actually got that idea from reading your DWC grow you have going after you put your bottle in there and it tore out your roots i said to myself "i cant let that happen.....what can i do to avoid that" and the idea clicked so i did it today. Thanks for passively helping me without even knowing it :D

  4. Just so everyone knows, as to not get confused to what im doing with my seedling. Im learning this from GoldGrower, he told me to have it about 4" long and take a pencil and split the hydroton straight down in the middle of the netpot then gently put the taproot down inside the little hole with the pencil still in there, after its placed in there gently remove the pencil and every so gently tap the netpot till the hydroton falls into place.

But so everyone knows. When growing a taproot straight down i didnt fully get the concept at first. But you put it in the paper towel, and i use a piece of tupperware ( a Mr.Lid so it seals) and keep it between the paper towel,  but the trick is, turn the container or plastic bag in the direction the taproot comes out.

So as if you planted it in rockwool or soil, angle it so the taproot is facing down and the sprout  upward and the taproot will grow straight down as if  its  already in its medium cause its a lot easier to thread a straight taproot into hydroton then it is to do a squiggle. And all this information im learning is thanks to GoldGrower......he really is amazing!!!! [IMG]

  5. I'm glad I can help! If it was me in your position I would be happy. All the bad things I avoid are by seeing mistakes or things not to do on here so it goes full circle! I'll figure out how to do something similar in mine..
    What strain are you running?

  6. Its in the title silly man, Special Kush #1 Feminized . from Royal Queen Seeds. It was a freebie when i bought my Norther Lights from the Vault. because Jack at the vault kicks so much ass!!!![IMG]

  7. Lol sorry I couldnt see the full title on my phone but I see it now
Sounds great I'll be following along and trying to help where I can
I lurked on these forums for years before making an account.
I'm interested in how well those nutrients treat you as well

  8. Yea im interested in the nutes also its my first time using them, but i talked to Brandon one of the owners of Botanicare while he was on Heavy T's Grow Show about how to exactly use these nutes seeing how its a 2 part organic and thats it. I guess the whole grow the PH needs to stay at a nice even 5.8 and im going to start the PPM's around 250 for the first week then bump it up a little after that. He suggested start small clones and other things at 500ppm but im kinda iffy on that decision. and the ending PPM needs to be around 1,000 but we will see, every strain is different.

  9. Yes every strain is different and the plant will tell u what it needs
I've always keep my ppms under 1000 in Dwc and had good success. Average about 4 oz per plant
My current white nightmare has been at 300 ppms for 6 days and has loved it. For the first 7 Days I didn't add anything just 5.9 PhD water

  10. Subbed man! So whats the frozen soda bottles for?

If you ever have time to explain the whole DWC setup for me id surely listen and appreciate it much!

  11. In DWC if you dont keep temps under 70 degrees then you run the risk of pythium (root rot) and its hella hard to get rid of. So the frozen bottles take the water temps down into sustainable ranges from 59-69 is where mine is going to flux around (69 degrees being the optimal temp)

  12. AND THUS IT BEGINS!!!!!!

  13. How far is the net pot away from your res water?

  14.
Lol that isn't quite what I said, I'm not sure how you managed to get the plant down the hole with the pencil still in there lol, but it looks like you have it all sorted anyway. Looks good man

  15.
I was wondering this also. I keep my waterline about halfway up the net pot. It's best to have the root touching the water

  16. Well as you can see from the picture, the hydroton is a little bit farther down then full. I would need a 6" taproot to reach the water i had, so i modified my res a little bit to accommodate the little plant, and my water line is a tad bit higher then half way up the netpot so i could get the water to touch it.

Also it was really easy to do it, i just gently moved he taproot along the pencil..........it was as easy as it sounds once the pencil was in there i made just about a 2mm gap next to it so i could move the taproot down alongside it, after the taproot was down there i held my finger on top of the little sprout and gently pulled the pencil out. It made me feel more secure then trying to put a taproot down inside of loose falling hydroton that could potentially smash the taproot. And i took the pencil and 1 by 1 moved hydroton into place to where i liked it.
But after the plant gets a bit bigger im going to put the rest of the hydroton around it in the netpot.

  17.
    Sounds spot on mate

  18. Went out on a limb today and added 3/4 tsp of my grow solution and 6ml Mag-Cal+ increased my PH from 6.0 down to 5.8 stable......temps are from 62-69 degrees. Also increased my PPM (my tap water comes out at 125) and upped the PPM from the nutes to just a mere 155 PPM. Not a big jump at all, just a tiny bit to feed her.

Im guessing since im using Organic nutes instead of Salt based synthetic, instead of it raising the PH of my water, it acts as PH down and lowers the PH of my water  so when the plant gets bigger, i need to learn to accommodate my nutes with PH up. And stop thinking the way a synthetic Nute user would.

Take my tap water that comes out roughly 7.5-8.0 depending on the day. And nute it up in a separate bucket to make sure i get the PH and PPM spot on before introducing it into my Res. I also add 5 1/2 Tsp of H202 (every 5 days) cause im still a bit nervous about Pythium seeing as how i had it in my first DWC attempt, but i dont see an issue cause ive got my res temps under control, but its better to work as a preventive measure rather then have to deal with it after its become that problem.

  19. Is that FF8? I completely forget which one your icon is in!

Subbed up, this is pretty interesting, any links to other prices finished grows using those??

Also would you mind posting air temp along side water so we can see flux??

  20. Any links to other prices? Not sure what that means enlighten me.
I think you may be talking about my Nutes and no. Its my first time running this Nute lineup, seeing as how its my first DWC.

But the air......the air is around 75 degrees cause thats what it is inside my house. Guess i need to go to home depot soon and pick up another hygrometer. My only hygrometer is inside my tent right now and im growing a tiny little Sour Diesel autoflower XD she isint even 1ft tall kinda sucks i was hoping for at least 15 inches....but meh.

I dont have res temp flux's it just gently rises over 3 days from about 62 up to 72+  if it let it get that far. But i dont let it get past 69 degrees.
And this is Vivi from FF9 when they are on the airship
