That's true, but where I live, the "government" is doing less and less of those things. Potholes abound, healthcare is slowly being destroyed, an ambulance will cost you $100 or more, depending on the Province, and there's less and less affordable education. Even the cops are being given less money.
Taxes are necessary,they go to pay for the pavement we walk on,to the fire brigade,police,ambulances etc etc etc etc etc . Yes a lot of tax is squandered on shite,but at end of the day its called a society and infrastructure and we all got to throw something in the pot. Companies who tax dodge by legal loop holes, well fuck all i can do about that lol

I doubt the people will pay for infrastructure.. the vast majority will not pay and just hope someone else does. Meanwhile, shit will break down left and right cause everyone was waiting for someone else to pay to fix something.
Some governments are better than other, with bigger crumbs, but yeah, mostly they govern on behalf of the ruling classes. I've always thought that the state in capitalist society is a borderline failed state, or at least teetering on the brink of faildom. That's when fascism happens. I still vote, tho

Well sure I pay my tax dollars, but 13 years living in the same place, our road is still fucked. I also know people who are starving, friend from grade school, got a speeding ticket when he was 17, doing 110 in a 80(kph). He is currently living on the streets. Its sad because this kid had a bright future ahead of him, great grades, never partied, yet he got the shit end of the stick. All because some cop didn't like his attitude. I bring him food or take him out for food once a week because he needs it. He has been trying hard for the past 2 years trying to get his shit back together but he cant get a job and his only income is a few bucks a day collecting bottles and cans.

solution? Think about this another way. What is a cop? A cop is a person who gets paid to enforce laws (which are implied to be there for protection.) But basically a cop is a person paid to protect you. All government is made up of government employees who are paid to do a job. Government is simply a corporation. But when it forces you to buy its goods, and makes competition for its own services illegal, (try starting your own police force and see what happens.) It becomes a Mafia. I never argued that services provided by government are unnecessary. I am arguing that theft is not required to fund said services. -yuri
