Anxiety Depression

  1. I am 19 years old and recently got diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder... and depression. My doctor started me on some medication and told me to try to cut back and if not stop smoking weed all together, but I don't think I ever will. I need other people's opinions who are going threw this as well... there must be others?

Yea I'd say quit your anti anxiety meds. They turn you into a zombie and the doc is just trying to make money by handing out prescriptions.

And then he tells you to quit using the medicine that could help you. Hmm sounds like a trustworthy guy.

I was 'diagnosed' with depression when I was 13(what 13 yo isn't) and for years I was on welbutrin then Lexapro, they made me happier but I still felt like something was off. Then when I was about 15 or 16 I started smoking weed. It didn't take long before I noticed that I just wasn't as depressed with the weed so I began to experiment with lowering the dose of my meds and found I didn't need them at all. When I told my docs/therapists about my discovery they laughed at me saying I was just high, then told me to get back on the pills($80 for 2 weeks) and visit them every week(combined $160)...Fuck...That. I'm 29 now and haven't taken any anti-depressants in about 12 years. I know its sounds corny but you need to find your bliss, mine just happened to be weed.

  4. I also have depression and anxiety (and OCD) but never taken any meds and I'd never get close to them.

I started smoking recreationally and realized months later that the illnesses tht have been plaguing me since I was 7 (and nearly driven me to commit suicide several times) were mysteriously gone. I had no idea cannabis would balance out my psyche, if anything I was sort of nervous about psychosis. What a pleasant surprise, eh.

  5. I would quit doing both for a while and see how you feel.
It could be the weed causing it.

  6. I usually follow direction what people say. You should do whatever your friends family say.

  7. What has helped me with anxiety & depression is:

    -meditation
-intense exercise to the point of sweating 4 times a week
    -cold showers
-relaxing supplements like magnesium citrate, kava kava, chammomile tea
-going to bed/getting up at the same time (hard one) and having a morning/evening routine

  8. I'm 19 and I was diagnosed with depression/anxiety/anger disorders around the age of 14 and I've been on soooooo many different medications throughout the years. Started smoking around the same age and I haven't realized how much weed helps my disorders until I stopped taking my medication. I spent years taking meds and they do/did help me but they were very destructive to my body so I stopped taking them and only smoked weed. I found that weed works a lot better for me, I can keep control of my thoughts, body, and I can decide when to medicate and when not to. And the best part is that there are no withdrawal symptoms. It took me a long time to find what worked best for me but I think I've found the medicine that works best for my body. It might take a while, but you'll find something that works best for you. Good luck!

  9. My GF takes daily meds for anxiety. She smokes every day and is fine. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

  10. Don't worry man. I'm in the same boat. It's okay to smoke weed. I take anxiety/depression/bipolar meds and honestly, I feel cannabis and exercise (even walking for half an hour) has been the most beneficial. It enhances your sense of well being, makes you feel better and releases endorphins in your body.

    Stay natural my friend ;)

  11.  Cant agree more with these. Also high CBD low THC weed has helped me out. Like 15-20% cbd to 1-2% thc.

  12. Don't do drugs smoke cannabis with less Thc levels to lower depression try bud that's rich in cbd

  13. if you get on these at 19... you'll have a helluva hard life going forward.

think long and hard before you seriously go down the road of pharmaceutical medication.
your doctor will downplay the withdrawal aspects of these medications. and they are, in many cases, are much worse than the actual problems you might be having today.

pick any medication you've been offered and read about it's side-effects from real people. there's is a lot of info available. then think if it's worth it.

the meds only mask the symptoms.. and once you stop... well everything comes back 100x worse.

be very careful before you go down this path.
