Hash Church

Discussion in 'Growing Organic Marijuana' started by shmalphy, May 7, 2015.

  1. This thread is to summarize and discuss "Hash Church", a weekly live video chat about all things cannabis hosted by bubbleman.

I purposely placed this in the organic section because I want to invite like minded farmers to be a part of the conversation since the discussion seems to be lacking in certain areas.

Feel free to post things you have learned, point out inaccuracies or myths presented, or just generally discuss topics raised.

  2. Been watching every Sunday since the first one. [IMG]  I got mad love for Bubbleman.  His video's got me started on my quest for full melt.

I'm not an organic farmer but I'll pop back in here every once in a while.

You are certainly welcome here brother urb, along with anyone else.

I've always respected bubbleman for promoting clean safe extraction techniques and telling people how he feels about solvent extracts. I think there's a natural link between that way of thinking and organic growing.

To get the best full melt you need the best starting material. I'd encourage anyone to try growing no-till and see the difference for themselves.

What strains are you working with on your quest? I'd love to try that Barb they rave about lol.

At 2:17:00 horatio asked tony about protocols to standardize terpene production. Tony went into a very strange response about flushing echinacea. Has anyone ever heard of this? I would love to see some literature about it if anyone can find anything, when I search "flushing echinacea" I find coneflower farms in Michigan.

Not sure where he gets that information from, but I seriously hope people don't start forcing their plants to wilt twice on top of an already inane practice of "flushing".. Supposedly they are all organic at River Rock? How can you possibly "flush" if your growing organically in a greenhouse? Sounds like he's drinking the high times Kool aid to be honest.

    ROFLMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have i ever mentioned how much I absolutely and totally despise f*ckers like this? Not one scintilla of science - ever.

Tony should keep his day job and leave the heavy lifting to high school graduates....

  6. Coot, watch the video, he says flushing an unusual number of times.. you have to laugh not to cry lol.

As soon as I saw this knew you'd get a kick out of it. That guy has a publicly traded cannabis company now.. He has a line of tinctures that he pushes heavily, with what sounds to be a combination of stoner science, hype, and deception, but that's just my take on it.

Let me give you some facts that you can consider and see what frauds this guy and others really are.

At this page you can look at the basic terpene, terpenoid and ketone compounds produced by two very different lavender cultivars, Lavande officinele (culinary) and Lavande asspic (medicinal)

The big divide starts with Linalool as you can see. Linalool is very foral and is produced by almost every flowering plant in the world including pot/weed/smoke/dope/ - pick a name. The culinary variety's oil is 29% linalool and the medicinal is 49.5%. If you look down the table you'll see that the culinary version produces Linayl acetate (33%) but the medicinal plant does not.

Fair enough - easy to understand.

Now scan down to Ketones and look at Camphor and you'll see that the medicinal plant produces copious amounts of this compound in addition to Eucalyptol (which makes eucalyptus tree leaves smell the way that they do). On both of these compounds the culinary plant only produces small amounts of Camphor.

Let's look at molecular formulas for just a couple of the compounds on this table as well as dope and notice that they're all 'fabricated' from 3 elements and terpenes only contain 2 of those elements - Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen (for terpenoids)

THC - C[SUB]21[/SUB]H[SUB]30[/SUB]O[SUB]2[/SUB] (this is a terpenoid because it contains an Oxygen ion)
LInalool - C10H[SUB]18[/SUB]O (this is a terpenoid because it contains an Oxygen ion)
    Myrcene - C[SUB]10[/SUB]H[SUB]16[/SUB] (this is a terpene)

Back to the lavender compound table - these are the very same compounds (secondary metabolites) that cause this plant to smell like this and that plant to smell like that one over there.

These compounds perform a number of functions such as disease control, repelling herbivore insects but attracting pollinators (and other so-called beneficial insects), communicating with surrounding plants, etc. A similar dynamic occurs in the rhizosphere in spite of what botany's ultimate fraud, Elaine Ingham, has to proffer.

For background reading Dr. Daniel Chemovitz book, What a Plant Knows: A Field Guide to the Senses is very instructive. A plant has two brain centers, one in the main taproot and the other is located in the apical meristem. This is where the production of secondary metabolites is controlled and a plant can take linalool molecules and 'edit them' to create thymol if that is what is needed at that time. This process takes a plant about 20 minutes to complete. A single insect landing on a leaf is enough to trigger a response by the plant. This is why topping a plant is pretty silly but not unexpected.

What you're seeing now and will see in the future videos by assholes like ol' Tony. If it were possible to control a plant's production for a specific compound don't you think that the flower industry around the world would have implemented it several years ago? Does anyone really think that ol' Stoner Stupid in a garage in Arcata, California figured this out one night huffin' dabs and other shitty concentrates?

  8. Seems counterintuitive on several levels that withholding water would make a plant produce, more of anything, but especially terpenes which are composed of the same elements. Not to mention the idea that it would be absolutely ridiculous to grow echinacea the way he's describing.. it's a wildflower ffs.

Plants deconstruct water molecules into the basic elements - 2 Hydrogen ions and a single Oxygen ion. The plant then combines this Oxygen ion with Carbon Dioxide (CO[SUB]2[/SUB]) which results in these hydrocarbon chains - like THC.

So yeah - very counterintuitive indeed! Borders on the insanity.

  10. Nice convo. Subscribed!

  11. I invited horatio to join us, hopefully he does because I'm interested in hearing more about his farming ventures outside cannabis as well as learning more about his essential oil production.

I'll be watching tomorrow, probably not live but I'll put it on in the evening. Let's see if bubbleman can go 5 minutes without berating Johnny b lmfao.

  12. Subbed up, I'm American as fuck and love a good put down. ...

  13. Welcome haggard!

Tony tries telling a medical patient to make sure to adjust the pH of their water. A resident soil "expert" came on and agreed whole heartedly while promoting the use of em1 and commercial mycorrhizae products. Bubbleman went on to mistake him for Kyle Kushman and proceeded to plug the "OG veganic special sauce" line, which luckily even Tony and Mendo's soil expert knew better than to fall for the concept of "vegan plant food" LOL.

Tony did say that he encountered someone who had been reusing their soil for years and it only got better and better, and even expressed enthusiasm for living soil, although I'd love to hear his definition of that term LMFAO.

It was interesting to learn about the young kid Colton, and see how cannabis has done so well for him. I'd love to learn more about how people are using different ratios of CBD to THC and understand more about how different ratios can treat different ailments.

Then there's Tony talking about juicing raw cannabis, saying how there is insufficient scientific evidence to prove it works, but he will sell you a 1/4 ice cube of it for $2. It would be funny if it weren't so sad. Here's a guy in a high rise over Denver ripping dabs from a $3000+ bong, all paid for by medical marijuana patients. He seems like the kind of guy who constantly inserts specious claims and regurgitates pseudo intellectual bullshit to sell his products, in the guise of "compassion".

  15. I can't watch because it won't work on my phone. I can see comments.. but the video won't load.. apparently they are talking about organics and flushing. I usually watch the recording later because the youtube app won't let me comment in the chat anyway and it has constant interruption and delays when live streaming on mobile.

  16. While there was plenty of ridiculous discussion about flushing and other stoner science type stuff, possibly the most flagrant perpetuation of myth based thinking occurred at 2:06:30 when Tony told the story of seeds that take 90 days to germinate because they were from next to a volcano. Where do people even come up with this garbage? How does anyone take Tony seriously?

  17. people believe the wierdest things. I would assume seeds from a region with volcanic ash would be superior. seeing as how they sell volcanic ash to gardeners. However some varieties of seed require being left to the cold, or in the case of some trees fire, to germinate with great success.

  18. The difference is that Tony is supposed to be someone people can trust to deliver accurate information about cannabis, and he's spewing nonsensical verbal diarrhea.

I got the feeling at the end when Horatio was poking fun at this very subject that bubbleman was starting to get a bit concerned about how much faith he's put into Tony, and starting to question his rigmarole.

  19. Its odd to me that Bubbleman uses this http://www.easy-grow.co.uk/product/medi-one/

He seams to want to grow the best possible meds.  I like his idea of community and sharing info for the better good of everyone.
Just wish he could see the light. He has quite the audience that could benefit from real info

Fish hydrolysate, kelp, "humates", sulfate of potash... sounds dank!

I have seen very few episodes but in one of the few I have seen I think that I remember that horatio mentioned that he grows in living soil
