How to achieve effects from edibles?

For those of us whom edibles do not affect, or affect very lightly, it is a struggle. Edible highs sound like my kinda high, I'm a dabbler of the body euphoria around the spectrum, one might say. Not too far towards one side, I consider that stooping lowly. But as far as pot, edibles sound crip.
Now some of us have a problem here; we have slow metabolisms, IBS, or some other thing that's causing us not to feel it.
Little anecdote: I was looking on a thread one time on reddit (needless to say, it was a trustworthy crowd-sourced analysis), and almost everyone who was not affected by edibles had stomach problems.
The most interesting part: one guy said he tried 150 mg on an empty stomach and didn't feel a thing, but that the only time he did experience an edible high was taking just 45 mg on a full stomach.
This brings in the question: might those of us with slower systems have to have said systems already working for optimal metabolization of edibles?
Or do any of you who aren't very affected have any strategies?

My test will happen in the next week or two. I'll report back, most likely with a new thread cause I don't think I'll get around to it for a short while. Here's what's going down: I'm gonna eat a solid meal an hour before edible consumption, a mango a few minutes before (or whatever the prime is; I'll look it up) and then have a big old chunk of my lollipop shatter that would equate to about a lollipop and a half, or ~60 mg. Possibly a little bit more.

TL;DR: I offered some possible ameliorations for edible impotence in us unlucky consumers. But most importantly, do you know of any method/preconditions which help such a person achieve effects?

Thanks to all of you, I'd really like to experience an edible high and your response here is what could make this a possibility for me. This appreciation hails from the depths of my very soul.
Edit: I don't know what I was on when I wrote this, but I apologize for the grammar mistakes... That's just not me. Shit doesn't effect you. What? I'm not affected by edibles either, but I don't think anyone is effected by em. Anywho...

And furthermore, Susan, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to learn that all four of them habitually smoked marihuana cigarettes..... REEFERS"

  2. I'm still trying to find out the same thing you are. I've had awesome body waves for hours from butter I made, then the next day I ate it with something different and got no were near the effects from it. I even tried eating the same amount of butter by itself on an empty stomach thinking I'll get ripped, but nothing. I'm doing the same thing you are, trying to find out what works for me. I achieved it before but I did something that I'm not doing now......

  3. I've heard that to achieve the best (most consistent) results, eat your edible right in the middle of a high-fat meal. I think i read it somewhere on Paleo's old canna-lard thread, (yes, the one where he decarbed in the microwave). I don't think i could find the exact source, but the information i took from it was that an empty stomach can take you either way. Meaning, you COULD get super high (as our alcohol-based logic would dictate), or you COULD feel nothing, since your metabolism isn't working as it would be if you had food in you.

I've also heard that ingesting edibles alongside eggs can increase the high by increasing the bioavailability of THC, i think due to the enzymes in eggs. I would give that a go, or take some soy lecithin, especially if your edibles don't already contain it. Best of luck to ya.

  4. Don't overthink it. My best advice follows.

edibiles are twice the duration, half the intensitty of smoking flowers. to find a proper dose, eat twice as much THC in milligrams that you would normally smoke. this vaires person to person, but is a good starting point.

for a person who has only smoked a handful of times, 10mg.

for a sociall smoker, smoking 1-2 times a week, 50mg

for seasoned smokers, 100mg and up.

eat ur edibles on a emtpy stomach, about 1 hour after a light snack.

take some citric acid as well, or drink a cup of coffee an hour after eating them....

most importantly, dont smoke previous to eating ur edibles. once u feel them kick in, then ur good to smok all u want

  5. As a person who exclusively eats edibles (due to lung issues), I have found that eating an edible right after a snack or meal does the trick. Doing this could avoid the FIRST PASS EFFECT :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_pass_effect that can happen with many drugs.

Caffeine also helps, so I tend to go with chocolate as a vehicle for my edibles, but you can pick your poison.

Also, if you're a regular smoker/dabber, your cannabinoid receptors might be saturated. Take a few days off (a week would be ideal) from smoking and have an edible and you may get the result you're looking for. Doing this can also reset your tolerance. If nothing changes, you may want to take off two weeks and so on... if you can. :)

    HTH.

  6. Wow, I've never herd of the first pass before. That makes total sense to me. Apparently I've been making my edibles way too strong and taking them at the wrong time. I always have eaten mine in the morning first thing thinking I'm fresh and will feel the full effects method. The last thing I ate was 1 gram of kush decarbed, and in coconut oil in oven for time. Next morning that's the first thing I ate was the oil over top Belgian waffles with whip cream. Filled me up. I was wrecked for a good 5 hours after it started to kick in. But it took almost 3 hours to kick in. I'm wondering how much stronger it would have been had i ate a light snack first. Wow thanks!

  8. Ok, i just made a fresh batch of brownies. I have 8 so I'm going to try them over the next 2 weeks at different times of the day with and without food before and after. Wish me luck on this extensive research!😁

  9. I'm interested to see what your results were! I'm new to edibles, still researching but haven't tried them yet. I'd like to know thenouycome

  10. Yeah, report back, Tokejoke!

  11. Ok, so i ate 8 brownies over the course of a week, different times of the day. I've noticed in the morning it doesn't seem as strong as the next day when I took it after lunch (like 2 hours later) also, I found out its not good to take them to work for an end of the day treat right before you leave, especially when your wife calls you with a store list on your way home lol. I did the butter in the fridge for 24 hours and it worked well. I've gotten crazy good body waves the first time I ate butter. I've been trying to get that effect again but can only seem to get the head high. It felt like I just smoked when they kicked in which wasn't bad, i just like the relaxation edibles for my sore muscles after work😉
