MSM reporting police brutality and corruption

  1. I have actually been very surprised by the fact that the mainstream media has actually been covering a lot of the police brutality that has been happening lately. Why is this? Are they realizing that it has gotten so out of control that it simply can't be ignored any longer?
Are they being manipulated to only "report" the high-profile cases to make it seem that they give a damn?
I'm leaning towards the latter as I have just seen a few stories on police brutality and a few very, very weak examples of governmental corruption just to reinforce the doublethink followed by countless stories of cat videos and other feel-good garbage that they pass off as news.

The mainstream media, no matter which side you're on, is obviously biased propaganda and has absolutely no relevance to the severity of the political climate today.
It seems that the stories of police corruption have become mainstream today in the mainstream media as well as the occasional very minor political scandal to make people think that they are actually receiving real news when 90% of this so called news is nothing but the latest celebrity gossip.

Ok, rant over. What do y'all think?

  2. Ok, I just realized that both paragraphs are quite similar but I guess that's what 5 or 6 bong tokes will do to ya first thing in the morning.

  3. That's OK, it needed to be said twice.

  4. The reason the stories are in the media is because of the increasing protests.  Without the broad-based protests, noght.  In this case, the people are driving the stories and not the other way around, as is sometimes the case.  In some important ways, it shows that demonstrations work, and "violent" ones work even better.  In fact, sometimes they can even result in this -

I serously doubt there would have been any charges without the civil unrest.

Now we gotta watch and see what the legal system does with this.

  5. It would be about damn time they get scared of pissing us off

  6. There's something weird going on here.  The article quotes the prosecutor "Mr Gray died as a result of injuries suffered while he was shackled inside a Baltimore police van, but not restrained by a seat belt - as he was legally required to be."  So Grey died because he didn't have his seat belt on?

Would someone who's sure the cops are guilty tell me exactly what they did that killed Grey?

  7. Whether or not you believe the charges against the Baltimore cops are fair, you are blind or dumb if you think police brutality is not becoming outlandish -- and that goes for people of all races. There are reports every day relating to that. And I'm not saying all cops are awful because many are actually good people, but some try to take the law within their own hands and receive no punishment for doing so. That, inherently, is wrong.

  8. Are you saying it doesn't matter what they did, they should be charged because police brutality is becoming outlandish?

  9. Wonder why the Balt police omitted that 4th stop they made on the way to the station?  Luckily, and probably because of the protests, the coppers found some video footage of that omitted 4th stop.

One does not lie for no reason.

  10. It was the 2nd stop that was omitted.  The fourth stop was to pick up another passanger who says Grey was making banging noises so he was alive after the 4th stop.

Either way, 4 stops instead of the 3 they first claimed.  And just because he was stil alive after the 4th stop, doesn't mean his spine couldn't have been broken.

Plus, how do we know the prisoner wasn't lying, in exchange for some legal goodies.

  12. If he was banging around then his spinal cord wasn't severed as it was when he got to their destination.  I suppose if the driver omitted making a second stop he could have omitted a fifth stop where he could have got out and broke Grey's neck.  I suppose a lot of things could have been.  What could have happened is usually used by the defense, the prosecution charges what did happen.  What did happen here that broke Grey's neck?  We don't know, yet people are so sure the cops killed him.  Maybe they did, but I'd like to know the facts before stringing them up.

  13. Sad anyone dies but in reality does anyone give two shits about this thug...one in Baltimore that is? Have you seen his rap sheet. Unbelievable amount of arrests especially if you look at the 2014 to 2015 time frame. His passing is a blessing. He was nothing but a parasite who purpose it seems on Earth was to create misery.

The media is a mess. In nearly all the highly publicized cases of police brutality the narrative was wrong. Ferguson ... guy was guilty. NY City well he died in the ambulance.

So we have all this hoopla about it and it turns out to be all wrong. I am like most Americans the well of sympathy is about dry.

  14.
Change the laws then. This is another case of where most Americans don't know much about how it works.

In nearly if not all 50 states if a Police officer is arresting someone in conjunction with a misdemeanor or felony arrest then any and all attempts to arrest you is allowed. Your rights are literally voided in that moment.

Another interesting thing about the law is if you die in a misdemeanor or felony arrest then in nearly all 50 states the Police can not be criminally prosecuted. Only Civil charges can be brought against you.

NY City guy who died is a example of this.

If you do not like it work at the local level to change the laws or perhaps join the police and enact that change.

  15.
I think your passing would be more of a blessing.

  16.
We'll see what the courts do with all the what ifs and could have beens.  I'm sure they'll get off, tho.

  17.
Standard liberal mumbo jumbo. Could happen any time though...just as in yourself. Your driving along with your family and wham DUI hits you and you become a statistic for the Dept of Transportation. Imagine that ending and existence..born to end up like that. Oh well its gotta come sometime for me. I welcome it. I have lived a good life.

No kidding, genius, we're all going to die [IMG]

I don't watch the news but I'd be willing to bet it is only specific cases (ie white on black incidents), and not the bigger picture that it can happen to anyone anywhere at any time.

  20. Its because Youtube and Reddit...

There's a sort of masochistic rush these police brutality videos give the kids, probably cause they know they are getting owned and this is their way of funneling their anger.. Reddit is always linking the most latest police brutality videos and reddit is a super mainstream audience.
