which colorado dispensary?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by rebar, May 1, 2015.

  1. Im visting Colorado again, but this time I want to buy legal weed.  Im heading to buena vista area but dont want to rely on the few shops Iv heard about there and salida.

Which dispensary in colorado should I visit my first time?  Im towing a camper , so downtown anywhere is a bad idea.

    Thanks!

  2. You realize Colorado is kinda big state right?  use the google or check Leafly.com and find one on your route.  Don't rely on the leafy prices for anything, they are not always up to date.  Use the links to the dispensary's website and read the reviews, they give great insight.

One thing to note, I have been to about 20 different dispensaries all over the state and I have yet to go to one that was easy to get in and out of, most were in old corner stores and some were in converted houses.  I did see a couple you could park kinda close to and walk to the store....

  3.  Sure..  But Iv got time to go out of my way to go to one of the best ones.  Not best prices..  Just the most comfortable and enjoyable.

I will also be in aspen.  So I better make sure the ones I had in mind are still open if you say RV access to most is difficult.

  4. They are all enjoyable, look at leafy to see what strains are there as they vary from dispensary to dispensary.  Some have only a few, some have a laundry list of great shit.  The hours are online too, many are open until 10, some close at 7.  Drop your shit in BV or Salida and just get it there locally is what I suggest.  The downtown Breck store gets their weed from all places.....Salida....

As far as being comfortable??  I sat in some staging or waiting rooms, whatever you want to call it, that was about as comfortable as a jack shack entry room.  Maybe someone can hook you up on a RV friendly access store, I am positive there are some, I just did not see any so sorry.

  5. Yeah, if the shops in Salida ,BV or aspen aren't closed when I get there..  Story of my life..

I'm gonna wish I would have stopped in Denver..

There are several in pueblo west, but none that I would say have amazing quality. I don't know if Salida has any rec stores, I'm going out there today and will check it out though.

  7.
I appreciate that..   Do some dispensaries only sell medical?  Or do all shops sell recreational now?

I guess the best way would be to get on the phone..  But I noticed leafly.com doesn't have a complete list .

If a great shop is down in pueblo west, I would plan my travel around a sure thing.

Yea, there is a large number of shops that are still medical only, and many cities and counties do not allow recreational sales at all. El Paso county is one example, although there are two rec stores in the City of Manitou. It is kind of weird how it all works.

Weedmaps and leafly both kind of suck. They have outdated information for most shops.

Pueblo West has several rec shops. Maggies Farm and Pueblo West Organics being the first two that come to mind. They both have websites that are a better source of info than leafly.

There are no rec shops in Colorado Springs or the City of Pueblo (though they are trying to get some in Pueblo now). There are no rec shops in Fremont county (in between pueblo west and Salida) I'm mot sure what county Salida is in, so no idea on their laws. I will look around at some of the cannabis magazines to see if I can find any ads for shops in Salida or Buena Vista.

My trip to Salida was delayed due to budget issues, but I may go out there this week. Thinking about finding property in the mountains.

  9. Looks like there may be several rec stores in Salida. The chamber of commerce has a list on their web page for rec stores.

Couldn't tell you anything on quality though. I have a med card so I don't visit the rec stores. I do get some med from Maggies from time to time. They run Tga strains if you want to find some info. Prices are ok, not great. Expect about $45 - $50 per eighth on rec sides. Quality can be hit and miss. Sometimes its too dry, sometimes its ok. Some taste great, some not so great. You get the idea.

Whatever you do, wherever you go Do Not buy prerolls anywhere without someone personally recommending the shop. Many shops use "deals" on prerolls to get higher prices from joints rolled out of shake and trim. They can be horribly, horribly nasty and a Very poor representation of cannabis quality in Colorado.

If you are in the Denver area, you have to try out "Green Solution". I believe they have like 10 locations and carry a nice selection of inventory....
Stay away from their "Blue Dream Cola". Some of the other favors are tolerable but that flavor has the taste of what I would imagine douche water to taste like...
Of course I had to drink it all @ 8$ a bottle..

    I visited this location:

    6020 W 20th Ave
    Edgewater
    Open until 11:45 pm

Super friendly bud tenders and this location was the only one of their stores which was upen until late (11:45pm).

If you are looking for quality you are going to have to venture up north here a bit in order to not have to go to every shop to find it.... Or you could go south to Colorado Springs....

I know here in Boulder you will only find 1-2 shops pushing iffy product but the shit is cheap in those shops... Denver is flooded with good shops, Fort Collins also...

Buena Vista is a nowhere town with no one in it lol 2000 people...

If you make it to Boulder, go to 14er Holistics

Now I'm nervous..  Not only do I have to find the right shop, but it could be bunk?  Iv got some co bud right now, and if its worse when I get there, finally! I dunno.. Id be pissed. lol

Seriously..  I see there's three in Salida.   Tenderfoot,    3D,   and Natures Medicine south of where Im headed.

And two in leadville.  natures spirit , and earls   north of camp.  I might just go to gunnison then almont and taylor res..  who knows..

Will I have any luck topping what Im smoking now at any of these places?

I will be coming in on 76 to 70.  Or I could head south to pueblo and 50 to salida. I could always park the rig and get my enduro out.. Suggestions?

  13. I don't venture into those parts of co to buy weed so I can't help...

The bonus to it being a store... if you don't like the bud you just leave lol

When in doubt head to a bigger city north of pueblo.... ive never heard anything special about bud below co springs and I've lived here for almost 26 years. I'm sure there is plenty of it though.

  14.
Yeah, but that's like walking out of a bar..  Tipping the bud tender? ok..

After lurking the subject more, sounds like some people are disappointed with the quality of recreational weed.   Maybe I should forget about buying any .

  15. If you walked into a bar and they only had coors light for 8 bucks a glass I'd hope you would leave lol

I've never had an issue with quality.... I got some great Durban yesterday for 24 an 8th... but I'm in Boulder

Like I said... southern colorado isn't the area of Colorado known for its weed.... it's more known for its prisons down there Hahaha

  16.
I'm a alcoholic.. So yeah Id pay $8 for a cold one, especially if I see tail.

The novelty of legally buying weed is tempting..  But why?  When I can just bring something back, that's just as good or better than the rec..

Those growers that pump out the bud like a machine.. Premature Pop corn buds hastily dried..

Shame on you.  Your state, and visitors deserve better!

  17. Not all the rec weed is horrible, its just hit and miss.
As far as our state, we have better. Most here don't smoke rec weed. Out of state visitors, they buy it because most are on vacation and like the ability to go in to a store and buy weed. What we consider low quality is still better than what many people can find in their home states.

Like I said where I am weed is good and always has been lol. That's kind of the thing in Boulder... Good affordable weed

But that doesn't mean you have buy it in a store lol. The black market never went anywhere.

Buy or don't lol you were the one who came asking.

Your state and people should work to get it legalized hahaha

  19. Thank you for your posts. I'm going to be in Denver 4th of July weekend. Looking forward to experiencing the culture and nature of the area. Just curious: how long should I expect to wait in line at the dispensaries? A few minutes? Hours?

  20. A few mins to half an hour I'd say
