After getting away from religious woo woo and opening my mind into evolution and such ive come up with a theory on what happens when our body reaches death. (again its a theory, not my belief) first off, you CANNOT be concious of being unconcious. think about that have you ever been put under anasthaesia by your doctor ? soon as you drift to sleep your sense of conciousness and time are gone. hours and hours even billions of years could pass and to you its just a blink of a second and BOOM your instantly where u were before the operation. time doesnt exist and is a construct of the brain. with this fact in account, i believe when your body reaches death, you decompose into the earth and your pineal gland is the "soul" seed where it mixes underground mother earths dead species materials (plant/animal) over long periods of time and creates the simplest life form (single celled organisms and bacteria etc) and you begin the evolutionary cycle once again. does this sound like a plausible theory or is there some shit here where it probably wont line up? (after some thinking i came to realize some of us are put in coffins or cremated) the fuck happens to them? kinda contradicted my post... but please feel free to expand on my theory and make it fit more) mods please move this to the philosophy section. i typed this on my iphone and the grasscity app is just not co-operating
I have a theory that humans are aliens from another planet that got dropped off here thousands of years ago and when we die the aliens come grab our bodies. But wait what about the cremated people? Shit. Will you make my theory work better.
the whole cremation / coffin process some of us endure of our physical body contradicts what i said about the pineal gland (soul seed) mixing underground with mother earths materials to form new life. if your turned to ash how will you fuse with mother nature again and start the cycle again? your DNA and pineal gland are gone. no chance of life aftrr death? But human DNA and the RNA of single cell organisms is different, and your consciousness is gone. What part of you lives on exactly? What you have described is basically the carbon cycle that all living things follow.

What people call the soul doesn't come from the Pineal gland. the soul is the product of our specific neuronal network. In other words, what people refer to as the "soul" is produced by the brain. Also, even if the Pineal gland produces DMT, and it has to be functioning to do so. Once you are dead, it stops producing. Also, there is not solid evidence that the Pineal gland produces DMT at all. It was first stated in a new age book and people took it and ran with it. We know that the Pineal Gland produces melatonin but that's it. Even if it did produce DMT, the fact that DMT makes you trip does not mean that it has anything to do with your soul. People have crazy experiences on psychedelics and say a lot of things that aren't true. For example, people often feel as though a gateway to another world is opened, but that doesn't mean that it's actually happening. I've seen my walls melt while on unmentionables, but they weren't actually melting. Last but not least, since you abandoned religious woo and are attempting to embrace Science, what you have is a hypothesis and not a theory.

I don't think you have any energy left for fun in you, and you are indeed dead inside. Also what if no one really knows science. Everything goes off a few theories which YET haven't been proven wrong, and if you do manage to disprove the laws of science you are a genius.

Soul/Mind=Brain...at least that's what sounds the most plausible to me. In the Universe, life develops somehow. I find it fascinating how matter evolves to something with a consciousness. So if soul=brain there's no life after death for you. However, the way I see it, the life present in the universe after your death will most likely keep reproducing=new brains. It could be possible to slip into these. Of course, this wouldn't be your present you. It's just the process of going from not existing to becoming conscious.
