I'm back with a vengeance, after a multiple year growing break I'm back with my first dwc grow, using an organic compost tea thing with god knows what in it from a friend who has great dwc buds with it, ph steady at 5.6 to 5.8, had one ph spile which caused a very short lockout so had some spots come up on a couple older leaves but fixed it with some vinegar before any new growth was zapped, both are topped and both have ten new tops starting (topped at 5th node)

Strain on the indicia dominant is non fem seed from a cross between an unknown indicia dominant bagseed (father) and platinum og clone, and sativa dominant is trainwreck x true og (sativa phenotype) neither are feminized, please don't hate for having both plants in one tub, I realize this was a mistake but not going back now lol.

Plants were seeds put into peat sponges 2 weeks and three days ago, I don't think I will EVER be able to go back to soil growing....... ever

yes that is an aerogarden fixture, no I'm not growing in an aerogarden, those things bubbles are complete shit, ATM have mixed spectrum 115 actual watts, have a total of 320 actual watts of Clfs that will be in the box by harvest

Sorry for double post and bumping my own thread so quick, I couldn't figure out how to edit in another picture, layout is different than I remember, way different, felt I should probably get a good pic of my lighting with the plants as well

Should also add I just did my first reservoir clean and the babies are in nutrientless ro water ph'd to 5.6 for the next 48 hours, will add nutes back in after that and re ph back to 5.6 ish. They just finished their first week of 3/4 strength nutes and loved it, full strength coming next

Fan leaves bigger than my hand on the Tw x og, and 9 finger leaves starting on the freshly topped platinum og cross

Will be flipping over to 12/12 from 20/4 in a week or two, maybe sooner if I continue to see an inch of growth a day like I am now

Have 8 tops going strong on the Tw og and 10 starting on the platinum og cross. Gonna be a fun grow

  4. Have to ask a serious question, we just had a storm roll through and had a 15 minute power outage, we have a lot of summer storms where I'm at.....

what do I do if I have a power outage more than a few hours? I literally have zero clue what I'm going to do when* this happens

  5. So my platinum og cross appears to be starting male pre flowers, even though its 3 weeks old and its on a 20/4 photo period, still too small to be picked up by my tablet cam but when big enough ill get a pic to show, there exactly where you would expect pre flowers and I know male pre flowers when I see them.

Still though, seems a bit early don't ya think?

Lots of growth, 3 weeks from seed Sunday, hydroponics have vastly destroyed my expectation, these look easily a month and a half old compared to my soil grows, maybe that's why platinum is showing male pre flowers lol

If I had not trimmed, pruned and lst a week ago the Tw x og would easily be on her tenth node a couple feet tall...... at 3 weeks, I feel like flabbergasted is the correct word here, now I see why all you hydro growers tell us soil growers we should try hydro XD..... this is ridiculous. My intermodal growth has inch tall intermodal growth, at 3 weeks. In other words I confide defeat to hydroponics

Male got the cut, not sure what I'm gonna do about the roots though, ill probly keep just enough growth on the male to keep it alive but not enough nodes to risk missing a pollen sack

Edit: in the process of untucking and unfolding all of the Tw og into light, found a couple nodes with female flowers, gotta love a good magnifying glass, able to sex before 12/12

I'll probably veg for a few more days then flip the switch to 12/12

I wonder how my phenotype will turn out, a ten week high yield trainwreck strain from clone bred with a true og pheno dude has had for a couple years. The og isn't a high yeilder I've seen that myself, which was the inspiration for the cross and I got lucky as he had waaaay more calyxes on both of his plants pollinated then he thought. Same buddy I'm getting my unknown nutes that seem to be working great from for free, he sais its sterilized home are compost tea. With his results I didn't ask questions

I think its about to be 4th day 12/12. stretch starting

My growth rates in dwc are putting my fastest soil grows to shame.

This is day 25 from seed, was topped at 4th node and at this point none of the original fan leaves from the main stalk are left. Þe tops outgrew them and shadowed them really bad so the got pruned

  12. Tied her down to Spread her out a bit, still debating weather or not she's big enough to worry about a scrog net, time will tell

Edit. Realized using an unsterilized organic nutrient in a dwc probably wasnt the best idea. Cleaned it out and redid the solution with the sterilized tea..... glad I caught that quick.

In full on flowering stretch mode, making room for colas, will be in full on flower and out of pre flowering in a few days maybe a week [IMG] the longer I go into flowering the more kushy it looks and the less like a train wreck it looks, hopefully it'll still have that trainwreck yield and and kushy buds, instead of that skimpy kush yeild

And they say you can't do organic dwc, its slower than chemical dwc, that's for sure, but still a HELL of a lot faster than soil in any conditions. Just making sure I flush my reservoir, clean thoroughly, and remix my nutrient solution every few days to keep any bacteria from culturing in the tub, and have noticed it doesn't really matter how high my dissolved solids are as long as I keep my ph good... feels a bit easier than mixing shot loads of chemicals even if I dont quite yield out as much as I could have had I gone that route.

This is day 28. Day 7 of 12/12

Have about a dozen female pre flowers, showing sex on all 8 main tops and a couple pre flowers on the secondary branching for my popcorn which will be used for hash of some kind. not gonna lollipop, just gonna add a couple 13 Watters to supplement my undergrowth

Thinkin about ordering a 4 foot 4 bulb t5 fixture, and just use Mt Clfs to supplement the lower growth. Would be for next grow but my box is the perfect sizeto fit one.and would add about 180 watts to my box. And would have 100-200 watts of supplemental cfls. Improving airflow isn't an issue, and as long as I'm home I leave the doors open on the box just for the vibe the plant puts out. These are such beautiful and rewarding plants to grow, and learning a lot about hydro as I go.

  15. Lookin so gorgeous, brought out the nicer camera for these pics...ony a couple ph spots on a couple leaves, rest of the plant is flawless

Day 10 of 12/12. Day 33 from seed. Beautiful, making lots of room for buds [IMG]

Can't wait to see what she's gonna smoke like. This is my first grow ever with known genetics and not just random bagseeds, difference is like night and day

Still don't feel the need to EVER order a feminized seed, back breeding hermaphrodites doesn't seem like the way to make good strong genetic phenotypes.

If you got 12 regular seeds you should be able to pull 3 good female phenos that have zero hermaphrodite back breeding in their lineage. I understand kinda for small setups, but that's what I'm runnin too though.....

Only ever had one hermie and it was after a three day power outage, it was put outside for those three days, and it still needed up producing great smoke was just lightly seeded, and it took three days of photoperiod fuckery to spit a single banana

  17. Still just pre flowers, don't think I'm gonna run a ten week strain again, they seem a bit too vigorous and monstrous for my setup, especially in a dwc

Day 13 of 12/12. Day 36 from seed, lowered the shelf a foot so I actually have room to finish her and add the rest of my lights when she's tall enough.

She has a couple dozen calyxes and pistols but still can't get good shots of them yet

The lights are usually more numerous and closer, but over expose the pictures if I don't move them

Took a couple cuttings before she goes into all out budding and I lose the chance. Used interior shoots off the main tops from the bottom of the plant. They are small but if I'm careful they should root just fine

Rotting them in a 33% 33% 33% coco coir, peat moss, perlite soilless mix I put together, the pot in the middle is another Tw x og seed I'm starting to transplant outdoors for the growing season, when/if the cuttings root and when the seed goes outside gonna start another journal in the organic section

Will be using my roots organic for both the clones and the outdoor Tw x og

Gonna keep using my boiled compost tea for the dwc grow (yup, successfully using organic with no root slime in dwc) ordered the flora nova lineup for my next DWC round. Just doing the soilless for now because I already had everything I need for it. All humbleness aside I'm gonna toot my own horn here. Ive seen so many people botch their first dwc....has been painfully easy so far..... knock on wood, lol

Another four or five inches and ill be able to add the rest of my lights

  20. She's a beauty, probably my last update until I have some calyxes and pistols to get clear shots of
