Infamous LEAF CURLING plz help

Discussion in 'Coco Coir' started by mattb136, Apr 28, 2015.

  1. So...first time using coco, running into a few problems that SOOO many others I see are also having...So to start I'm using Canna Coco, GH nutes(micro+bloom)+Cal-mag. Just introduced some epsom salt only because I am desperate and thought why not...and read up on it. But my leaves are still curling and showing some signs of early yellow tigar stripes. I was over watering I believe so I cut back a lot. Watering with nutes every water. Just seeing this problem everywhere with new growers, or at least online. Using a ratio of 6/9 micro/bloom. Just added Epsom salts yesterday, honestly look like it was beneficial. I'm fairly new at learning plant science so any comments will be helpful. Thanks

  2. What are you your temps/humidity, type of light, how close to the light are they? Plants can take a while to bounce back from over watering

In addition to what willfargo asked, can you tell us what your water source is like? Tap EC? RO? Feed strength? Frequency of Feed?

I realllllllyyyyy doubt that you're overwatering, unless it was an unestablished root system recently transplanted to a larger container with root space yet to fill...if you read h3ads thread you'll see where he discusses 'overwatering', which he explains as actually a lack of oxygen in the rootzone and further says how more frequent waterings introduces more dissolved oxygen and pushing out water that has been depleted of oxygen...all truth...

    MG Deficiency:

    1. You have excess calcium in your water supply and the amounts antagonize MG uptake, especially if youre adding even more..
    2. You have excess potassium. If you've water with plain water recently then you removed the CaMg buffer that canna added to the coco and your CEC is out of whack. Easily fixed with 200 PPM of CaMg and 200 PPM A+B fed to heavy runoff.
    3. Really this should be number one, but CHECK YOUR PH PEN. You cannot accurately test coco runoff, but ensuring that your pen is on point and feeding between 5.7 and 5.9 pretty much guarantees that you're good in the medium.
    4. Stop dumping epsom salts in your coco, as with the CEC balance between K:CA:MG excess MG will lock out K resulting in a shit fucking plant with awful transpiration and numerous compounded deficiencies. Dumping the element you're deficient in seldom corrects the deficiency....

  4. check your roots, are they bright white and smell like cucumbers? Or are they brown and dirty looking? My suspicion is root rot.
