Have you ever gone to Colorado or a legal state for weed?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by Two Scoops, Apr 25, 2015.

  1. I'm thinking about heading to CO this summer with a friend just to enjoy weed legally. Plus it'll be way better quality than the random stuff we get in the south. Have you ever visited CO, AK, WA, DC, or OR just to enjoy all the great marijuana they legally have? Also have you ever smuggled some out of those states? I'm sure some people want to bring some fun back home.

  3. Weed is not legal in Oregon, you need a medical marijuana card issued by the state of OR.

My bad. I thought OR had it legalized already. But hey, better later than never.

  5.
Weed was legalized in Oregon last November, they are just in the process of setting up the regulatory structure and are working on how to process businsess licensce applications.

  6. Just got back from Denver for 04/20..
    Sampled many edibles and strains...
    Was completely amazing!!

  7. Never have, it would be a fun trip, but I enjoy hanging around our town.  The bud is good, and there is plenty to do.

  8. I go to Colorado several times a year anyhow.  Smoke shops are like candy stores.  You will be blown away from what you see, lots of selection and decent product, way better on average than on the street.  Prices are slowly coming down.

    Two things to note.

    1.   Smoking in public is still illegal, hotels have signs warning that smoking pot there is not allowed.  Tons and tons of citations issued for public smoking.....Just be a little bit smart and no problems.  Follow the rules, if you don't then you hurt every other state trying to decriminalize or legalize weed.  Legal weed does not mean you can do it anywhere you wish.  You can still get a ticket.  Yeah I know it limits your smoking places to basically none??  Pretty stupid, but if you just stay away from people when you smoke then you will be fine.

    2.  Transporting across state lines is a major federal crime.  Most neighboring states know exactly what to look for.  Know what you are getting into.  If you get caught with a couple of ounces you can end up in serious trouble.  We carry back in New Mexico Medical MJ bags and not more than the legal amount.  I think the states with the biggest hard on are Nebraska and Oklahoma when it comes to Colorado pot being taken across their states.

No it wasn't. Weed was voted on last November. The actual law doesn't take effect until July. They are not 'just in the process of setting up the regulatory structure' as you say. There's a lot more going on than that. Weed was decriminalized in OR in 2004.

And to answer the OP: Nope. I live less than 20 miles from the nearest WA rec store and there's no reason why I'd want to go to one. I don't do medical in OR, but the price of black market weed is about half of what it is in a WA rec store.  Looking at today's menu for Main Street Marijuana in Vancouver, WA, your average prices are about $20/g for flower and concentrates are like $60-200 per gram. Pretty crappy prices! In Portland I can call a delivery guy and get topshelf from $120-150 an oz for flower, and I just picked up 3g of shatter for $60 total.  So why go to WA?

  10. Just curious:  Although I'm not a resident of OR, I am 'legally disabled'.  I live in a state with pretty ridiculous cannabis laws.  (Wife's family is here, so I'm here on compromise)  Even if I was able to legally obtain from a dispensary in OR I would/could be criminally charged for transportation/usage in my state, eh?

This whole mess is inane and frustrating....I'm a 40-year-old man that worked in professional capacities for over 20 years, and paid my damned taxes, as well....
My attorney, doctors, and therapists all fully SUPPORT my usage of cannabis and tell me that they'd be glad to get it FOR me, for fuck's sake...

  13. Denver has several stores selling in the $12/gr range with deals on 1/8s as low as $20 (mids). Some as high as $350/oz (top shelf) too all rec prices. Medical is cheaper. Have to look. I won't deal with a dealer but I get it if it's same product at 1/2 the price. These prices are close enough for me plus I'm not supporting the black market while supporting legal weed. Big sales and big taxes I hope paves the way for federally legal weed. Eventually......

  14.
Yeah, you couldn't cross state lines with it. Where do you live? For some reason I thought it was NY.

  15. I live in Washington and the only requirement for buying is having valid ID (over 21). They are VERY strict about the ID thing. As far as taking it across borders, I wouldn't recommend it. I'm sure people do but as soon as you cross the border, it becomes a federal thing not to mention that the state(s) you enter are probably going to have a serious problem also. Just not worth the potential problems if you get caught. Also, the police in our surrounding states have been known to pull people over for VERY minor infractions just to see if they can catch a whiff of any weed.

  16. no but when i was younger i went to colorado with my family and skiied, had a blast and at the coldest it was near -20f. thought you should know

Come on out here, Colorado is a blast. Legalized weed is just icing on the cake.

Word has it that several states surrounding us watch for cars leaving the state that fit their profile. You couldn't pay me enough to attempt to leave this state with any significant amount of cannabis in my possession. There are ways to accomplish the task, but that would be trafficking and GC does not allow any such discussion.

Come visit, have fun, and smoke up. As long as your cool and respectful you wont find a more friendly place. Whatever you buy here, consume here. That way you keep your freedom and can come back to enjoy it again sometime.

  18. I agree Colorado has a lot more to fall in love with then just our weed, you may find you don't ever want to leave. It is so beautiful here, tons of stuff to do, and the people and food kick ass. Recreational shops sell weed a little bit more expensive then medical shops, but you can still have a good time. If you're staying in a hotel, please find a nearby recreational smoke lounge to enjoy your herb in, there are plenty. Don't break any rules while you're here, and remember: What you buy in colorado needs to stay in colorado.

  19. Went there...

    ...stayed there.

  20. I smoked weed illegally in Colorado for longer than it's been legal there. ;)

Lots of nice Colorado bud, then and now. But I wouldn't go there just for the weed. Weed is the icing.
