Well, another stupid move by politicians, meaning more unnecessary chaos!

Washington Governor Jay Inslee has signed Senate Bill 5052 into law, a proposal that will lead to the closure of every medical cannabis dispensary in the state, while implementing a patient registry and drastically reducing the amount of cannabis a patient can possess and cultivate.  This law requires all currently operating medical cannabis dispensaries to close by July 1st, 2016, putting an end to hundreds, if not thousands of jobs, and greatly decreasing safe access for patients. The proposal will also reduce the amount of cannabis a patient can possess by over 80%, from 24 ounces to 3, and will reduce the amount they can cultivate from 15 plants, to 6. And this is only if they enter a patient database admitting to committing a federal crime; if a patient refuses to join the database, they'll only be able to possess an ounce, and cultivate 4 plants.

Many cities in the state have an outright bans on recreational cannabis outlets (but not on medical facilities), meaning many patients will now need to travel several cities over to purchase their medicine; either that, or rely on the black-market.

    What clowns...........

Ain't nothing gonna stop the state legislature from introducing bills unless the voters threaten them come election day.

The patients of Washington state need get an initiative together and put forth a law they want. If the voters of Washington like it, they'll vote for it. I would shoot for a constitutional amendment. Harder for the legislature to pass a law requiring 2/3rds of the vote.

As you can see, this fight is far from over.

If we can get off of our asses and get I-1372 on the ballot and passed it would replace SB-5052.

  7.
I never though I would be embarrassed to be from Washington....

Today, sitting here in Seattle, if we listen closely we can hear the laughter coming from Colorado....

  8. I've been considering a move from Cali to Washington.

    Until today.

  9. I've been eyeing a move down to Oregon for some time. The changing direction of things here in WA is certainly becoming a strong motivation.

  10. Gasp.
How could this ever have happened.

  11. i think they are bad-ass
    from my view//////

  12. This is bat shit crazy, good luck Washington, HOLD FAST

  13. We need more regulations and taxes for everything.

Why don't we start regulating coffee and tomatoes like we do weed. Have only a select number of people grow a select number of plants in a select location in select circumstances, limit any personal use growing, limiting the sizes and amounts the growers can grow, and tax it 25%+ each transaction. Let's also limit it to a select number of stores in selected zones selected by a random gambling lottery, a select number of licenses, and where any jurisdiction can ban the sale of it whenever they feel like it.

People would stop buying that junk overnight and find a better system to buy from.

It's sad to see a nice MMJ program destroyed. I hope they file lawsuits, they also voted for MMJ in 1998. Completely thwarted the will of the voters, reduced their MMJ program to joke-level.
