First Grow = First Harvest - Need some experts

  1. Okay, so I'm growing the norther light auto-strain and the bubbleicious auto-strain. I'm growing these for 2 reasons.

    1. Noob.
    2. Moving from the US to Germany in a couple months and I needed something to grow fast.

Anyways, I had issues with my Northern Lights from the beginning. I had them in Coco Fior without realizing the soil didn't have any nutrients so they got nothing for 3-4 weeks, and I had some additional small nutrient and over-watering issues.

While my bubblecious was in Fox Farm ocean forest, and is just growing like crazy (in my opinion), they have only gotten grow nutrients once, and that was a couple days ago. So I've already learned from my mistakes.

From the pictures you can see my bubbleicious is taking over, compared to northern lights. So I need the room.

I've been reading the best time to harvest is when the tricomes look milky. Well, the top cola on two of my plants look like a 50/50 mix, but the ones below are just white.

    My questions are.
1.) What are your predictions on ETA - remember this is an auto-flower.
2.) If the top cola is ready to harvest can that just be plucked while the others grow?

I planted the Northern Lights (silly me didn't write down the date, but I bought the seeds from Nirvana on 1-31-2015 so I probably got them and planted them the second week in February)

Bubblecious which is irrelevant to my question was purchased 2-26-2015 so those were planted like the second week in March.

  2. basically they just fall over and die thats how you know they are done

  3. Mate, you are weeks from harvest.  The pistils are still white.  You need to look at the trichomes.  For that you'll need a 60+powered jewelers loupe or a small hand held microscope.

I looked there, but the images don't exist. Plus I already knew most of that. My question was this: ETA - which someone answered. Basically falling over (weeks away) and If the top cola is ready to harvest can that just be plucked while the others grow?

Thank you! Just bought a lope on eBay

I knew it was to early to harvest, but with these auto-flowers I don't know how early or when I should stop the flowering nutrients since they are on the timed cycle. I'm still learning [IMG] I don't mind being criticized as long as it's constructive, and when I say I'm moving to Germany in a couple months I mean September - so I have enough time either way.

bro u just need to watch them very carefully around the date it says peak harvest is(we all know its not always the same)...but get a magnifying glass (jewelers loup) and really get serious about looking at those trichomes...i wait till they are 100% milky and boom...u seem to know whats up man, trust your gut, but be patient at the same time.idk your setup and didnt bother to look but it seems u have some time left. (i dont know if its weeks or not bc im unfamiliar as to how autos grow...dilegently keep close eye, but loose the stress bc w a keen eye u can finish your cycle with a bang!

also, you can remove your top cola if u think its ready, but it didnt look like it was....if it was there would be an amber tint to the trichomes..try the "fold under" technique w your fan leaves, and chop all that bottom shit off so it directs its energy to that top cola

  6. They are nowhere near ready to harvest. They look like mine do at about three weeks into an eight week bud cycle.
I crop when I see amber color on thirty to fifty percent of the trichs and cloudy on the rest. You will need a cheap handheld microscope to see this properly.
You can crop from the top down over a couple of weeks if you like. Take the ripe buds which lets more light to the lower stuff to benefit them. I don't do it myself as i have timing down to a carefully arranged schedule with clones, veg and bud rooms

  7. Thank you everyone :) Soon enough I'll figure out how everything works.

Everyone has different opinions and the way they do things, so it is hard to get a clear message as a newbie, but you all almost said the same thing so thank you!
