Phosphorous deficiency? In shock?

  1. Hey guys newbie here looking for advice. I started some of my plants in jiffy pellets while waiting for my RRs. I transferred them to dwc 2 inch net pots before they grew roots out of the bottom and some died. (probably over watered) the strongest survived and I took them and put them in 3 inch net pots and switched to a top feed/ aeroponic system. Basically just sprayers inside a 5 gal bucket at the top continuously draining to an aerated reservoir. Anyways I came left and came back and the water was hot. So hot that it melted a frozen water bottle within 10 minutes. I decided that the dwc would be my best bet considering I'm limited to various equipment and this is my first grow. The system is currently on dwc and I just recently added flora bloom. I only had micro and grow in there at first. Didn't realize I needed to use all 3. The plants seem to have came half back alive as they were drooping bad after the added nutrients. But the leaves twisted a little too. And new roots are growing out of the cups now. PH is at 6.0. What do you all think? Phosphorous deficiency? Heat stress? Shock from all the changes? A combination of it all? Me being impatient? Thanks in advance. :)

  2. Anyone know?

  3. Expanded clay pebbles (ECP) are what you want...Can you wait for the ECP's and start over with a regular DWC?

  4. Cou could be heat stress? My grow box got very hot for about 36 hrs 88 and my leaves looked very similar to the one with the spots. but then again I am no expert .

Good luck and if you find out or keep me posted.would like to no myself.

Also the way the leaves are curling down ..maybe a little over watered then again I'm no expert lol

  5. Thanks for the response you all. Smokeymcdoodles I decided to go with lava rock and pea gravel from what I read on the forums here. I could buy some ecp though but are you saying that could have caused this. Vanilla ice thanks for your opinion as well.

  6. Here is updated pics taken 2 minutes ago. Seems like they are getting better overnight. However I heard leaves damaged like that may never grow back to regular. As much stress these have had I'll prob end up with all males

  7. Your res needs to be 68f max. Anything higher cooks the plants and invites the parasite known as brown slime

You need a chiller or your plants will not improve.

What is your ph and ppm?

  8. Hi pokesmot. Reservoir is currently at 70. I can lower it tho. Room temp 77. Humidity 63% PH is 6.2 ppm 546 TDS. I'm using tap water tho and out of faucet is already 340 ppm. OLD Roots on one plant are really taking off now but they have a little brown color to them. All NEW root development is white.

  9. Hoping that root isn't the start of brown slime?

  10. Your res temp is too high at 70f

Water bottle won't work. You need a chiller.

You can build one yourself out of computer parts

If it's brow slime, a parasite, buy some cannazym. It will compete with the brown slime for food, starving it to death, then the enzymes will eat the parasite and the rotting roots, converting them back into nitrogen in the water.

    Very good stuff.

I ran my res at 90f for a week and watched brown slime starve and disappear with cannazym in the water.

  11. OK. Thank you poke. Do you know if there are any products available similar to cannazym that I could get in town?

  12. This baby has recovered and is really taking off now.

  14. I love this post, Can you get a video that shows the completed unit? I would love to rig one of these to my 5gal DWC bucket seeing as how my Res temps are sitting at about 75-77 but my plant isint having any issues. But i would like to cool the water a bit more

  15. That's not my video but when I build one ill be sure to make a step by step guide! :)
