Medical marijuana legislation won a small victory in an Alabama Senate panel on Wednesday, but long-time senator and chairman of the committee that sets the calendar for the floor says the bill is dead.
This means the full membership of the Senate won't even get a chance to debate it. Sen. Jabo Waggoner, Rules Committee chairman, thinks that Alabama isn't ready for legislation that would allow patients with some chronic medical issues to purchase medical marijuana. "It is bad legislation," he said. "We don't need that in Alabama."

Senator Waggoner, your closed mind tells us that you have outlived your pupose as a representative of the people of Alabama. Looks like the people have only 2 choices, vote him out of office and into an old folks home or wait until the mean old bastard dies! What a fool!!!!

    vote em out of here!

  3. This just reinforces the fact that Ala-damn-bama is still in the 1930's. Art Linkletter's daughter dropped acid and did a swan dive off of a balcony. Had she lived we all know that she would have had a needle and a spoon shooting up mj the next day!

  4. That's too bad [IMG] but I can't say it's too surprising.

The first state in the southeast to legalize medical (or recreational) marijuana is going to see a huge influx of people, and subsequent tax money. The land in much of the southeast is favorable for growing as well. I'm curious to who it will be, it's starting to look like Florida at this point.

But soon, older, socially conservative politicians are going to either retire, die, or be forced to compromise their stance in order to keep getting votes. Just how soon is the question.
