Is there a high demand for dairy free edibles?

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by Armymanis, Apr 19, 2015.

  1. I want to take a poll. I am planning on starting my own business in Washington State selling Dairy free edibles as I think that is a market that is not tapped out yet. I think a lot of people who have allergies would enjoy a dairy free edible. I have found going into many shops that all their edibles contain milk except for the drinks and candies. No one really knows whats in them.

Would any of you buy Dairy free edibles or think this is a good prospect? All my friends who have been i the market longer then I have think its a great profitable idea and am surprised that I am the first one to come up with it. I am highly allergic to milk so I have sort of a story as to why I want to create the edibles. I also think it would be beneficial to others with the same allergy as being allergic to milk is becoming more common.

  2. I think its an excellent idea. Very intelligent to grab a niche no one else is considering.

Anyone lactose intolerant would greatly benefit from your product, should it be offered in dispensaries.

I would cover the bases for all of the above, in terms of milk containing products, ie, candy, milk, etc

  3. I plan on offering it in dispensaries too, but I need to get a license first at least that's what my friend whose a grower said. My friend said I need to start up a business plan and present it to someone within the industry who would be willing to back me. As right now I am out of a work and am trying to find some way to make it doing what I love to do. I primarily smoke weed, and would love to have edibles that I could eat too. I am sure others would also love to do the same as its very frustrating walking into a dispensary and seeing all the products have milk in them.

  4. I'd say also exploit this new "gluten free" craze everyone is pointlessly going nuts over, but I'm sure gluten free edibles are already available through the hipsters anyway.

Sounds like a good idea though man, go for it! People with allergies should be able to buy edibles too.

  5. i probably wouldn't buy it over normal edibles im not lactose or anything, but interesting idea

  6. Yeah, definitely. I'd buy dairy free over regular any day.

  7. Thanks for all the input guys! Keep the input coming! I am writing up my business plan right now. My mom still wants me to work as I cannot get loans from the bank for this kind of thing. That's understandable. I am going to be putting all my extra time into getting this up and running.

How would you achieve this tho? The dairy is usually the reason the weed can get in there, unless you're just dumping plant matter into the mix...?

My friend said there is a way to achieve this. I am not going to divulge my secrets online because I want this to become successful if I can get it to work.

  10. Ah right, right. Well its a great idea and I hope it comes thru for you man, I can eat dairy but I know plenty of people it could benefit.

  11.
Thanks! I hope I can actually get it off the ground. I have two pages of my business plan accomplished today so far.

  12. You in fact don't need to use dairy at all for making edibles as mentioned above. but for some reason it's often included in the ingredients. it sounds like a good idea, if i were you I'd research some shops in WA and call and ask if they have dairy free or not.

  13. Real and/or perceived allergies are on the rise, so sure.  Good luck.

  14. Nice idea.

I think you can make edibles with coconut oil cannabutter which doesn't have dairy in it or just use non-dairy milk.

No, that's not how it works. I make dairy free edibles for myself often. It doesn't bond to dairy. It bonds to fat, which dairy does have. There are lots of other fats.

Your biggest problem is going to be getting a kitchen that's certified by the health department where you live. If this is your home kitchen, the chances of you getting it certified by the health dept. are almost non-existent. If you have a pet in the house with the kitchen then the health dept will never certify it. There are professional kitchens that you can rent, depending where you live. It may not be affordable at all for you. The main reason people don't sell food they make out of their house is because the health dept won't certify their home.

Ah well it was a dream. I am back to looking for work anyways.

  18. Lmao brain fart, yea vegatable oils and stuff like that too

  19. Most of the edibles sold are chocolate based, or else are the Swedish Fish/Gummy bear style candies. The Chai High teas and OMG! brand drinks are flying off the shelves here too, so dairy free people do have options already. Not discouraging you from your plan though, I like that you're forward thinking. But for the amount of money involved in making an edible company, I just hope you have a few good tricks up your sleeve so you don't crash and burn

  20. Make gluten free edibles as well.
