Hi I first planned to use a scrog net and LST, but now I think for my first grow I'm going to do just one cola and just let it grow.  Just because its my first grow really, and been having trouble getting past the seed stage haha.

For starting my next seed (first two in clear plastic bottle died) I plan to use a small ceramic cup I got from a friend.  They've used these before and got all sprouts.

Based on advice from here, I ditched my 18W LED lights and just got a pack of 3 23 Watt (100W equivalent) Daylight 6500k  CFL bulbs.  And I have 3 bulb holders I'm going to hang in my closet, and have them all height adjustable.  Will attach a pic please post your thoughts.  Got an extention cord so I can do it all in the closet..

Does this set up sound good for one plant for seedling and veg?

And also should I start with just one bulb for sprouting and the first while?

Going to get 3 2700k bulbs when I need them for flowering, and just use the same holders.  Who knows might get another for veg later on, and have 4 for each cycle.  Not too worried though just want to get a plant growing and get a decent yield.

My main concern for now is my first few days, but should the switch from the pop bottle to the small cup, and the switch from LED to these CFL fix my problems?

Sorry if its kind of all over the place, hope someone understands it lol.

Edit: Do I NEED a thermometer or is it doable without, ordered a light, moisture and PH meter, thought it was temp too...
Soil im using is promix Vegetable and Herb organic

The "watt equivalent" is pointless. What you got yourself there is a total of 69 watts from the three, not enough.

I grew once, used two CFL's total of 180 watts with good results. Although right when it started flowering I snapped its neck and threw it out of the car on the freeway... don't ask why.

Next time I'm trying out a 180 watt LED UFO, although I'm getting like 120 watts out of it, still too little but I'm giving it a shot.

How many plants r u growing?

  3. Im asking why was it over a girl haha

  4. Only growing one plant at a time

  5. The more plants you grow at a time the better your harvest and your long-term benefits are

  6. Go for it man you have enough lights for a good start on a plant, if it's healthy when you get there it would make sense to top it, you could probably even finish a plant with those lights

  7. Yes that sounds good for vegging and it will work use all 3 bulbs don't start off with one. And when you switch to flowering use the 3 2700k bulbs. And you know when you are vegging the lights will need to be on for 18 hours a day and when you are flowering the lights will need to be on for only 12 hours 12/12. as for the other things like thermometer you don't need to get it if you don't want to but is nice to know how hot it is for your plants. It should be okay as it's only small. And as for what you are planting in I would recommend a small pot so it had drainage holes in the bottom or just make the holes in a cup if you want and have a tray under to collect the water. And if you are still unsure or stuck just post a journal in micro grows and people will help. Good luck growing dude.

  8. Thanks for the quick responses everyone, just put my third seed in germ, third times a charm :).

  9. Just adding a couple pics, please post your thoughts.  Might need new holder so can only have two lights on for now.  Awesome lights compared to what I had there [IMG].

  10. Just planted my new seed :). Germinated for a couple days, decent size sprout not too long.  To start I'm following an experienced growers advice and just keeping it at 10 hours light 14 hours dark (your thoughts on this?), seems my other seeds fried pretty quick.  Got the soil around where the seed is moistened, and placed under my 3 6500k CFLs.  Lights are about 3 inches from the soil, going to check every few hours too see how fast the soil dries out.  Will keep you guys posted, and please post your thoughts.  When I walk into the room it feels warm, but not too warm.  And that's about it for now haha.

Thanks in advance for any tips/advice.

  11. Should I not do this light cycle?  or is it a good idea for starting with?
