  2. Welcome to GCO.

    Full sun

Good sized holes - 10-20 gallon minimum.

Lots of compost, plus some sphagnum peat mixed in. Pick up a bale of Pro-Mix or similar. Worm castings should be added.

Make sure the soil drains well. If you question it at all, add some perlite or other drainage amendment.

Kelp meal is a must. Mix a couple cupfuls into each hole.

Bagged, composted chicken manure pellets are inexpensive and very effective. Once the plants are well established, add some into your watering Paul and let it soak for a day or two and then water this chicken manure tea in every few waterings. Same with the kelp meal.

Mulch around the plants with leaves and straw. This will help keep the soil moist during the heat of summer.

I'd also grab a bag of some kind of blended organic dry fertilizer like or similar to Epsoma Plant Tone and mix a couple cupfuls of that into each hole.

That's it. Compost (and Vermicompost/worm castings) is paramount to your success - or not. Find some good compost.

When I do this I mulch the hole area. It helps keep the lower plant clean when it rains. IME

Edit: Nothing worse then sandy bud
