2 week old pant look bad please help.

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by GrowKid420, Apr 18, 2015.

  1. My 2 week old seedling looks pretty bad. I'm using a 23 watt and a 13 watt cfl light right now. Planted in regular potting soil until I transplant it but I'm scared to right now. I over watered a bit and have stopped watering for the time being. I keep a fan on it all the time it's just a regular box fan i keep it on 1 ( should I give it off time?) Please help I don't know what to do.

Good lord man, i pretty much agree with Fullmetal, however, all is not lost.

You need more CFLs thats for sure, its not stretching yet so thats good. You should have used a better soil also.

Theres nothing really to LST there but thats not the problem. I suggest just LIFTA (leave it the fuck alone) for now, let it dry out because it looks heavily overwatered. when is the last water and how much?

If you do have better soil around you can try to carefully transplant it into the good soil.

Okay thanks for the help and after more research I see I started LST way to early. Last time I watered was last Friday maybe around a cup but I didn't have drain holes (Now I do). I have been reading more and seeing some things I'm doing wrong and I also plan to get more lights really soon.

Also do you think I need to take off the string or leave it? but yes I'm not going to touch it from now on.

Oh yeah the lack of drainage could of played a huge part in the stunted growth. Did you put holes in the container or did you transplant? Id take the string off, theres nothing really there to LST. Be sure to keep your CFLs close to the plant ~3-4 inches away, a good rule of thumb is to put the back of your hand on the plant and if it feels to hot for your hand its to hot for the plant. You want to do this to maximize the amount of light the plant receives.

  6. In addition to EB's good advice, I'd suggest adding perlite to whatever soil you end up using.

  7.
yes of course! how did i miss that, good lord. Drainage holes and perlite should solve most of your over watering problem, besides actually over watering, if that makes any sense lol.

Theres probably many things ive forgotten to mention if i think of anything else i'll let you know. Also if you have any more questions just ask man, im here to help. happy growing!

  8. My knowledge is limited, but i can help with this one. Your plant is needing nutrients (right now it desperately needs nitrogen; watch out for phosphorous deficiencies in the future as well...) You can add nitrogen to the soil by either purchasing expensive fertilizers with high nitrogen content (first number on bag), or, make you own potting soil as I have done with mine, and make sure you add generous amounts of Nitrogen.
Coffee grounds contain nitrogen, and so does feces. I personally prefer vegetarian animal feces, and conveniently have 3 hamsters! ;)
you can also water the plants with urine (but if you do make SURE to water it down, you can burn your plants).
You also want phosphorous, and wood ashes are rich in it (I burn the cedar bedding of those 3 convenient hamsters)
and potassium is easy to find... Make sure the actual "dirt" your using is rich-looking and black.
Throw some worms in that soil to add their own nitrogen rich feces, helping break down and aerate the soil as well.
Be careful how often you water it, but make sure the soil is "damp" at all times.
Other than that, provide as much "blue/green" light as possible at this early stage, and give her long days.
When shes 1/2 the size you want her, shorten the days (slowly) to 6 hour days, and switch from nitrogen-rich, to Phosphorous-rich soil. When she's ready, conceal her in a dark ass room for up to 72 hours and harvest!
Sorry, I might have gotten carried away with my answer! lol

I put drain holes in it. I'm scared to transplant right now as I don't want to harm it anymore. I also took off the string. If it does end up being dead it'll be a learning experience for sure! but it's my very first grow so I expected either this or little harvest. I'v been reading the guides here and they helped a lot.

Thanks for the help I can use all the info you got lol. Should I let it recover from over watering before I add nutes? and what do you mean by shortin the days to 6 hour days? like go to 18/6?

Any kind of perlite will do? Like can i use mircle grow perlite.

  10. Yes but do it gradually and only when your ready for her to flower. She'll double in size during flowering period so that's why I said half size. Also I would very carefully transplant them in new soil with nutes unless you already have plenty of nitrogen in your soil. If u do your plant just needs better quality light. I also forgot to add that during flowering period, "for best results", switch to a strong light that favors the "red" light spectrum, which produces bigger, better buds.
