Does marijuana encourage nihilism or just nihilistic traits?

1. Let's think about the action of smoking marijiana. In that action, you are not doing an activity more so productive. So in theory this is nihilistic behavior, as we all know time spent wisely is how we grow.

So at what point does one become nihilist?

2. Not sure you understand what nihilism is, or maybe you're not putting forth your theory as well as you could.

NIHILISM:
-the rejection of all religious and moral principles, often in the belief that life is meaningless.
-extreme skepticism maintaining that nothing in the world has a real existence.
-the doctrine of an extreme Russian revolutionary party circa 1900, which found nothing to approve of in the established social order.

I don't see how you believe smoking marijuana is a form of Nihilism.

3. Nah... even nihilism is meaningless. lol

4. Strongly disagree, homie. First short term impairment of cognitive abilities is not nihilism, nihilism is an attitude towards life. Maybe smoking might inspire an understanding of meaninglessness behind things due to it's dissociative properties but the act itself is not a surrender to meaninglessness. Secondly marijuana makes you more imaginative and sensitive towards your body. I rock climb way harder when high and I can get so engulfed in a book when high that I can usually finish it in a day or so, thus making me interested in pursuing these aspects of reality that have become abundantly more meaningful to me while high.

Vee believe in nussing, Lebowski.

5. As already mentioned, you seem to be using nihilism incorrectly...

Also, you seem to imply that all time not spent doing something 'productive' is wasted time...which I would definitely not agree with...

6. I think Nihilism is an odd topic..whether you started smoking Marijuana in your teens or adolescence..To me the understanding is a mutual agreement you have with your own habits and the people you smoke with..In the begining everyone usually laughs and has funny and exciting conversations and events..but when the habit starts taking over your life..you eventaully feel that the old things that were perfect and fun..become almost exacerbatingly Odd...like the known communication that you were used too begins to break down..and paranoia swallows your life..

Ultimately I think Nihilism is a valid stage in ones Adolescence..and from there you decide if you want to further it whether its philosophically..or Politically..or just grow out of Nihilism into Existentialism..which is a pretty straight dice if you ever knew one in the first place..

So ultimately...i think if you can sort nihilism..and team it with other philosophies..it can have its merits..and can just funnel a certain amount of curiosity one has for the universe and the self..Getting into Kabbalah and understanding that the roots of the tree of life revolve around the idea of nothingness..is of course a furthering of the total commitment to nihilism itself..

Indeed i am a Nihilist..and may the world revolve around me in its necessary stages that i may call a valid slope of maturity and growth..in the development of my Self, Soul..and the actions that stem from my Personality there in..

7. I think that smoking weed definitely promotes philosophical thought. However, I don't know of any evidence to prove that it specifically promotes belief in any particular type of philosophy. This could be an interesting research topic (if it hasn't been researched already).

8. Yeah when you start gigling you release your a mind a bit..and that inherant truth leads to an open mind..sometimes people think of nothing and sometimes they like to compare something to the goodness in their lives..

9. Weed makes some people more rebellious, it makes others more spiritual and then some it makes laid back.

I wouldn't say it makes people complete nihilist.

It takes actual rationalization and premeditation to actively live as a nihilist.

10. Pre Meditation is true.. and the Subject of this is not a will to power or either that or this..but the condemning confines of Nihilism itself..

Which Abstracted forms the art of the true honest peace in man...and that subject is equal to or better than nothing,..for example the idea of Bartering a house for a certificate of Authenticity..and the rural background that a House can be Formed upon..this invariance is a varied equation of the sloan of the nutrients of the House itself..it is a set back to be a Nhilist..but from there from whence we came..is of course something rather than nothing..to be perfectly precise..nothing is a thing that does not exist..or is subject of something that you dont want..or are trying to tame..or maybe even philosophically Speaking is the King in the House...This is a Digest of the Awareness of time..which in even strokes is a forbidden nature..to the tambirs of the Peace itself..as far as Nihilism goes... One would want to further its studying in only and that single hood..into the nature of the truth itself..which is an extension of peace..that nothing can harm me..I dont think Nothing Specifically can Harm me..but I am Just here to Jest..and to Realize that as far as we know nothing is in between everything..and in the very shaping of our differences whether they be novel or Aged..is a Realization that the Truth comes in its own Cabode..

11. I believe cannabis encourages a person to reflect.

Thinking or thought is a threat to most established belief systems that discourage thinking and encourage suspension of disbelief.

Googled 'nihilism' and it says

Nihilism is the belief that all values are baseless and that nothing can be known or communicated. It is often associated with extreme pessimism and a radical skepticism that condemns existence. A true nihilist would believe in nothing, have no loyalties, and no purpose other than, perhaps, an impulse to destroy.

'A belief that all values are baseless' is something bud can contribute to. Another thread here asks 'is bud awakening your TRUE self?'. If it does then your true self will not necessarily value what your society values, a 're-evaluation of values' as Friedrich put it.

Such definitions as above however blend somebody who rejects social norms with somebody who is depressed, has no real passions in life, only 'an impulse to destroy', and whose thoughts that 'nothing can be known or communicated' are in radical contradiction to immediate reality.
