Need Help for Entertainment Setup

  1. So I'll be moving out soon in about 2 months with the job I have I'll be able to support myself, in the meantime I've been saving and searching for an apartment etc. But I need some advice on setting up an entertainment center for my new pad.

So I'm trying to stay in a decent price range and I hope you'll get a feel for what I'm looking at if not just ask. I'm looking at replacing my current 22" Led Insignia that I use for my room with a Samsung 40" Led smart Tv, and purchase the Vizio 5.1 surround sound system. Which I've heard nothing but good things for what the Vizio is. I will mostly be watching blu-rays, I don't plan on getting cable, and don't really play Video games.

I have a PS3 and it works fine for playing blu-rays and if I want to play the occasional video game. I mostly want a good movie watching setup, something to emerge me into the film. Let me know if it sounds like I'm headed in the right direction or if you have any advice. I really appreciate the help fellow stoners!

  2. OK here is the catch.  If you only can get internet through Cable, then you might as well get basic cable (It usually costs about the same)  Your PS3 and iPad can stream netflix or some other provider for cheap movies ($8.55/mo I think)  I have internet through DSL and I like it. You can rent or buy the modem, I bought mine for $100.  Just starting out I would just rent it.  You are already going to be saddled with a lot of costs moving out that are unexpected.

When you sign up for most services you can usually get a discount, just make sure you can afford it after the promo prices goes away.
Just a word of warning, No matter what you think you are going to spend setting up a new place it will always be more.  Empty fridge adds up to a lot of money.  Same thing with empty pantry.  If you don't spend money on stocking up a little bit then you will spend more eating out and that is worse when you are trying to get started.

If it were me?  I would get set up THEN buy the electronics.  You might find you run out of money otherwise.

  3. Thanks man, I've actually moved into a rented room. I have two roommates and the house is really nice. So I cant really get the sound i want. so I may Just invest in some nice headphones like Audio Technica to watch my blu-rays and chill and listen to music. Since I really cant play my movies to loud, and my roommates are in the bedrooms right next to me. But its all gravy gotta work with what you got. I know what you mean about food LOL! I went to buy food for the week today and holy shit is it expensive and yes I did buy more than i expected haha.

  4. What resolution, Hz and refresh rate does it have? When you're spending big bucks on a TV you want something to last you more than a couple years. Get something with Ultra HD or 4K. Don't buy into 3D, some people like it, I think it's a gimmick and a dying fad.
