Kind k3 l600 or Promax Max600 or Two Solarspec SS-150?

Discussion in 'Lighting' started by osamabingrowin, Apr 11, 2015.

  1. It has been a few months since my initial post and I have finally saved up the money required. I have finalized my seeds, grow area and hydroponic set-up. I have a question about lighting and I'm hoping some of the experts on this forum could help me out.

What is your opinion on the 3 LED lighting options I am looking to choose from? I have a 2ftx4ftx7ft grow tent. I would love any opinions as to which light would be best for my area.

Kind k3 l600 vs Promax Max600 vs Two SolarSpec SS-150

    Some things to consider:
    1. I would like to know overall which light is best in your opinion? They all appear to have favorable reviews.
    2. Is there one light that might be best for the size of my grow area? The Kind k3 l600 and two Solarspec SS-150 have more of a rectangular coverage area that might work best. The Max600 has a square coverage area but does not require any cooling. I live in a very hot climate so this is a big selling point for me.

At the end of the day, I'm looking for the one with the best coverage area for my set-up. I can deal with heat issues if they arise but I would prefer not to if the Max600 is the best of both worlds.

I am aware that the SolarSpec is very popular and heavily advertised on this site. I'm really just looking for unbiased opinions please.

Thank you everyone. I am excited to finally get started.

  2. What's your budget? Is that the Promax company from IG? Oh lordddd, I made a thread about them on another site. Please don't buy that crap

  3. Thank you for your response VitaminGreen.

To be honest, I am aware of the ProMax company. I was just playing a little devil's advocate to see if anyone has actually used them.

I also know that the Kind K3 series is VERY similar to rebranded Apollo. It's Chinese parts and the consensus appears to be that they work but you are paying an inflated charge.

I think it is going to come down to two SolarSpec SS-150 or two Area51 RW-150. What does everyone think about these 2?

SolarSpec is relatively new, but I've heard good things. However, I love Area51 website info because it is upfront, honest and American made Cree's.

BTW, I tried 3-4 separate times while talking to someone at ProMax and they could not produce a par reading for the Max600. They also will not state their LED manufacture. I was just told,
"Any other LED light you would end up purchasing will be made in China and you are able to tell by the box design with the red and blue color diodes. These lights are bought in China shipped to the U.S. And stamped then sold."

    Hey OS!

Well I can't give you an "unbiased" opinion.... I have used the the SS-150 in a 3 x 3 veg tent all by itself and it did an outstanding job. I didn't have heat issues at all... My ventilation consisted of a 6 inch inline duct fan one of those small round ones. I then moved the SS-150 to the flower tent with my SS-260. Here is a link to my journal You can check out the results they produced.

Like I said I can't be unbiased because I know the results the Specs produce! Hope you join the "Revolution"
