Temps at night

  1. My temps are dropping to around 60 at night in flower. Is this too cold. 83 during day. I can adjust with small heater. Should i bring them up a bit at lights off?

  2. Anything more then 15 degree temp fluctuation Is considered a no go for cannabis. A lot of what your asking depends certain variables.to me,83 seams high but if your running co2 then that is not to high at all. If your not in the later cycle of bloom then you really do not want much day night temp fluctuation. Now some people in the last half of bloom will take there night Temps down to 55 or so to mimic the autumn but I never go under 62.some will say no more then a 10 degree day night temp differential but 15 degrees is technically the limit of fluctuation.so really it all depends what part of bloom you are (if you are in bloom) if your in veg well that is a whole other story. Cannabis will benefit more from less day night temperature fluctuations... so basically it all depends but I myself would raise the night temp some and if not running co2 I would lower the day temp some as well..all depends.

  3. Some sativas can take those temps without a problem, at least in my experience.

Either way I'd try to keep it no lower than 70-72 and no higher than 80-82.

I pump co2 at a very constant 1500. When my room drops to 1399ppm it will shoot co2 until it's back at 1500ppm. I keep my night temps at 70 and my daytime temp at 88 in veg and 92 in bloom.

  4. Wow those are some high temps.  Do you notice a difference from running say 80 in flower vs your 92?

In 20 gallon pots I only veg for 2- 2 1/2 weeks. At that point they're already 4-5 feet tall (from the floor, not the top of the pot). By the time I harvest they're 6 1/2 - 7 ft tall. Unless it's a sativa. Those things get taller.

But there's more to this than co2 and warmer temps. I use great nutes and add a weekly compost tea too.

Edit- forgot to answer your post. I flower in higher temps because it makes for much denser bud and I can finish off an 8 week strain in as little as 6 1/2 to 7 weeks (100% milky with very little Amber). When my brother wants to replenish his head stash he leaves his plants in there for about 2 days longer. He likes it with a lot more Amber. Typically the difference in my rooms those two days make is about 10-15% Amber.

One negative about growing at these temps, if your a set it and forget it type grower; you have to put in a lot of time in the room. And even if your taking a break you want to check temps constantly. If temps get too high, if humidity gets too low or high you can have a ruined crop.

  6. Just adding one more thing. Co2 on its own doesn't really make much of a difference (in my experience). Co2 enrichment is crap unless you exploit it. Some folks run it and don't boost their temps and won't get an increase in yield, quality or reduced veg/flower time.

I exploit co2 in the following ways; I allow for a much hotter grow room and I bring my lights a wee bit closer to my canopy. Warmer temps have to be monitored at all times! I can not stress this enough. I use 1khps bulbs in vented hoods. And I keep them 6 inches from the canopy, I also employ a bunch of oscillating fans to bring down radiant temps. Without those fans I would have to keep my hood at least 12 inches to 18 inches from the canopy.

Finally, co2 can't be employed and exploited properly without a completely sealed room. If u have to vent every now or then or in the summer then keep that venting fan as high and close to your ceiling as possible.

  7. So it sounds like no Scrog.  Yes, the way you now explained it it does sound like alot more work.  The only thing I've not been able to get around with higher temps is the stuff just looses it's smell, or just smells like hay.

  8. Co2 is the reason his grows handle those temps.. with co2 your actually suppose to run at higher Temps.he would benefit more formal the co2 if he would actually raise up the temp a few more degrees.. 80 is tops without co2

  9. I've never lost scent due to high temps. From my experience u gain the grass smell in late flower when you go too far in between feedings and/or your room is too hot and not humid enough.

  10. I recently had a 3week old norther lights strain survive a light over night frost. I was very surprised.

  11. My tent get down to 55 at night, but never higher than 70 during the day and my plants don't mind. My res is usually 55-60.

  12. Try not to let the Temps get that low until end of harvest and not even then..Temps below 60 do nothing but slow the rate of growth.. cannabis loves heat as long as it is not to hot.if you room is 70 then it is probably just fine under the lights.look at it this way..in prime locations outdoors for cannabis where does it get 55 at night? It dont. Not until the end of cycle and even then the plant suffers when it gets to cold.the point of indoor growing is a controlled environment where we can prevent the to low and to high of Temps from affecting our plants. 55 won't damage the plant but it will slow rate of growth among other things. .just my thoughts on 55 degrees. Not that it does not happen but it iwould never be my intentions to let my grow room get down below 60 especially during veg or early bloom..Cannabis actually benefits more from less temp fluctuations during most of its growth cycles
