Node growth after cloning

Discussion in 'Advanced Growing Techniques' started by Baked Bread Baker, Apr 9, 2015.

  1. Couldn't find an answer from Google. Took some clones off a plant from seed while it was still young prepping it for mainlining. She was started in 12/12 from seed for sexing then back to 18/6 to veg.

My first round of clones off another seed, different strain, taken at a more mature point in its life all produced clones that grew asymmetrical after rooting.

The current clones that are now vegging off my 12/12 seed and taken when plant was only 8 nodes high 2/4 I'm almost positive are growing symmetrical.

    Reasons? Seeing things?

Clones grow different every time you take a cut.now taking ones in a 12/12 cycle is there mature point weather the seed is old or young. Plants or clones that go straight into bloom cycle are prevented from branching and that technique is used for s.o.g method. I'm slightly confused about your question but I do know if you take a clone or seed and go straight into 12 12 you end up with all lateral growth.

  3. The seed was grown 12/12 until it showed sex, then gave it 24 hours of light then to a 18/6 to veg. After a week or so I topped it and removed some growth to train it to mainline. I got 5 clones all but the top growing tip rooted. 2 clones started growing asymmetrical and 2 grew symmetrical after rooting.

  4. Clones will grow asymmetrical, its normal. If you ever have too reveg a clone from a flowering plant, wait til you see that mess.

The leaf arrangement on the stem is called phyllotaxy, it is opposite in juvenile seedlings until they reach sexual maturity then changes to alternate in a mature plant.  Clones taken from mature mother plants will have alternating nodes, seedling clones will be opposite.
