Hey y'all. Here is my first hydro attempt. I would first like to say I am pretty cheap and found ALMOST everything I need at local stores so far. All I'm lacking are net pots, clay pebbles, nutrients, ph meter, and I'm getting a 150 watt hps to up the yeild without too much energy consumption. Anyone that has a cheaper diy way of making these please let me know. Also let me know what I'm missing if anything...
2 gallon? That is probably gonna be too small for the res as roots will take up descent space depending how big they get which would require you adding water of solution all the time as it will drink what is barley able to fit fast. Descent size plants that vegged for 4weeks and up will drink more than a gallon in a day during flower so keep that in mind, and remember very important for dwc I'm guessing your doing that since you didn't state it, you can never have too much air. First the tent... 2x1x4 I built it out of pvc pipe, black dropcloth, and wallpaper stuff. It was dirt cheap and hopefully will keep bugs out..which seems to be mu main problem. I haven't hung lights or fans yet. Still waiting for germ. The supplies Ive got two 2 gal buckets painted black with air stones. I'm getting three in. net pots for them and dont plan on vegging long. I got a cheap air pump that should work fine. Ive got ph up and down but I'm still lacking the meter. Now for pics And only two jiffy pots are ice kush the rest are veggies
I figured it would get cramped by the end but I'm trying to keep it small. I dont know how fast itll grow but I'm gonna flower at 1 ft. Would that be possible?
Just a a warning I don't know if it will happen with that smaller pump but those airstones like to float, if money is a issue look for a weight of some sort that might work to weigh them down if they do want to float. As far as height yea you could get away with a 1' plant in those buckets more than likely, what are you using for ventilation she may get a little warm and humid in that tent. G Also just curious what are you looking to yield and what kind of plants are you planing on getting? G
As far as ventilation I'm just getting a little fan blowing air in on the plants and another sucking air out above the light. I'm hoping to yeild an ounce off these two plants anything else is extra. Ive got Ice Kush from Advanced Seeds. This little grow is more to see if I can handle hydro and if it goes well next grow and tent will be much better
Yea being small and a 150 as far as ventilation goes that should be fine, any thoughts on smell, or is it not a big issue. Sorry I see your title again 2 gal ice kush grow haha my bad, I think 1 oz is very doable, think about a little plant training to help widen them to give you more yield, ideally I would aim for 1' tall and 1' wide and I bet you get 1oz off each. No worries. For the smell I plan on getting that ozium or whatever its called. A lot of people swear by it. I'm in my own house so ita not a huge deal but the less smell the better. And anything over an ounce is a sweet bonus haha
We have lift off on one seed. I fear the other might be too wet and couldve rotted but its out of that mini green house thing and under a light now so hopefully I'll see her soon
Here's my t5 that's keeping the kids alive. I'll be ordering nutes (flora bloom and micro) a 150 watt hydrofarm hps, 3.75" net pots, two pounds of clay pebbles, and most importantly a science stick(ph and ppm and what not) anything I'm forgetting? Also the 2 big leave plants are water melon
Well I I got everything ordered shouls be here tomorrow night but I made a slight change. I swapped the hps for a 4 bulb t5. I know everyone thinks these suck but ive had good experuences with mine and this way there wont be a heat issue.I went ahead and started another I.K. seed because the other didnt make it ao let's see what happens. The other is doing great and already is outgrowing its cube
I have a question for lst in a bucket. I usually use wire and hook it arounde the pot I'm growing in but thats probably not a good i dea in hydro. Where do you tie down at
Well here's the update. I got my stuff in yesterday and figured since it ain't taking nutrients yet I could put the little lady in with some tap water. This mormimg shes still lookin good. Got 6 t5 bulbs at 5000 lumens each so this should match a 150 hps I'm thinkin
Nice man can't wait to see the outcome I just saw a whole dwc kit for 5gal with 6in netpot for like $29 on amazon and was wondering how good it would do. Prob end up scog it.
Thanks man. I saw those too and they seem nifty but I'm sure if you went to wal mart you could get it cheaper aside from net pots and clay. Their fish department has the hook up on dirt cheap hydro supplies
I hear ya. I have like a twenty pack of net pots and a bunch seeds ive been stock piling so I wanna do a rubbermaid tub run next and 12/12 from seed 8 of these reg wonder woman
