15wat CFL grow

  1. hey guys im about to start my first closet grow
i plan to grow 2 auto flowering plants

i was just curious if my lights will do the job

    iv got 20 x 15wat 60w equilivent CFL 6500k globes = a total of 120000 lumens and 300 watts

i plant to add another 20 soft white globes as soon as possible making it a total of 40 ,15wat globes on total

  2. If your running 300 Watts in CFL and going to add more why wouldnt you just buy a 250 watt HPS or an LED panel for the same cost. Its going to cost you way more to run a cfl setup that yields anywhere close to a HPS or LED?

40 bulbs is just insane so many issues there, not even light, hot spots, burning out bulbs, be extremely hard to get the lights close enough to the plants. you would have been much better off taking that 3$ a bulb and spending the extra 50$ and buying a HPS that will easily double your yield and cut the bullshit game your about to play with 40 bulbs out completely.

here in my country South africa...trust me 40 cfl bulbs works out cheaper than hps or LED ...250watt HPS +ballast comes to R1400 which is $117.87 where as 20 cfl bub packs costs me R140 so thats R280 for 40 bulbs which is $23.57

the plans is 20 bubls ontop..and 20 spread out and fixed around the plant at different levels

  4. and not to mention its only for 2 auto flowers in my closet

  5. Just not sensible to pay for something that will knowingly be less performance, thats like going to the Olympics and buying the bronze medal over the gold knowingly. Those 40 cfl's will never yield even 50% of what a LED or HPS will yield at the same wattage. being a tiny ass closest those 40 bulbs are going to be hell to control for heat, i had problems with 4 83 watters, Both LED and HPS can be easily controlled in fact its usally part of that nice 117$ plug and play kit you buy. not to mention you dont have to run wiring for 40 bulbs and mount 40 sockets which also cost money ontop of the bulbs.

i dont see the positives here? so you had 40$ today to buy bulbs wait another couple  months get 117 and buy a real light and actually grow something worth 90 days of attention and power. i get the "its the only option for me to grow NOW", but being someone whos been there and done this its a waste of time and money. within 2 crops youll be swapping out because your tired of the crappy fluffy weed CFL's grow and the low yields. and if not then your a trooper man and have a huge wallet and dont even know it. My last CFL was .37 g / w and that was the best i ever did quarter pound off 330 watts of CFL. With HPS i haven been under .7 g / w thats doubling the yield for the same power.

  6. Anything over 90w with cfl is a waste of time and money.

I know this for a fact.i grew with 400w of cfls and then went to a 600w hps and then later t5s and leds.

150w hps will put 300w of cfls to utter shame and cost half as much while producing 3x the herb

Dont skimp on your light. Its the difference between schwag and dank. Trust me dude, got your best interest at heart bro/sis.

  8. Not bad at all. need to mix in some cool white in there to encourage a little stretching

  9. why would he want to encourage stretching? Short bushy and unstretched plants are exactly what I'm after, so are most indoor growers. Stretching is just more stem between bud sites. Why waste that space? They'll stretch more then enough on they're own.

  10. Turn the bulbs sideways. Much more light comes out of the sides of the bulb than the bottom.

Also, why buy 15w CFLs when you can put a 30w CFL in the same socket? More light = more bud.

I have to agree with the others that a 400w HPS will draw alot less electricity, so if you plan to do more than 2 or 3 grows, it will be worth it to spend more on the better light, because you will save money in electricity (unless you arent paying for the power...)

  11. like i said here in south africa with the cost of lights...trust me this is the way to go..most hardware stores dont even stock HID and HPS only via special order anywho..heres day 7...iv added 2 computer fans on each side for air movment and also added a DIY home made c02 generator and started a lite nutrient feed
