Hammer Horror and Amicus?

  1. Anyone else into these?  I really dig the Amicus portmanteaus in particular:

    Vault of Horror
    Tales From the Crypt
    Torture Garden
    Asylum
    Dr. Terror's House of Horrors
    The House that Dripped Blood
    From Beyond the Grave

Being a massive fan of the classic EC Horror books, these films ruled my childhood.  (I'm really into Creepshow and the sequel, but we are talking about the Bray Road/Shepperton/British side here)

  2. been meaning to watch more hammer horror. so far i really liked the devil rides out

  3. Ive got tales from the crypt collection on my hdd, same with creepshow 1/2. Both played significant roles in me becoming a horror film fan back in the 80s/90s when i was comin up :)

Its funny, a lot of famous movie stars from today played various small character roles in tales from the crypt.

  4. \nSame goes for most of Amicus' stuff, aye.  You'd see Dr. Who popping in for a bit role, various British tv staples, Lee, Cushing, Pleasence, etc.etc.
\nYou should see them all when you have the chance.  [IMG]

  5. I'm a big fan of the old Hammer and Amicus flicks. It seemed like the Hammer movies were meant to be the more 'serious' films while Amicus put out the 'grittier' ones. There a lot of fun. Some are on Netflix but I've got a lot on DVD.

If you're a fan of those movies you should check out a movie called Dracula 3D. It was made by the Italian horror director Dario Argento a couple of years ago and is very much a tribute to the old Hammer movies.
